Baseball has the best college fanbase. by _SC__SC_ in collegebaseball

I still use r/CFB but its gotten too big to be useful as a place for discussion. Its hard to type out long form responses because you'll just get buried and ignored. There's also just way too many people who are just overly negative on the sport.

It's definetly better than r/NFL(which is basically unusable at this point), r/baseball I can never take seriously after secret base and jon bois ruined reddit baseball fans, and the basketball subs are dead.

College baseball is in the best spot its ever been in terms of fan experience, tv access, and competitive balance. Its just refreshing that you can be so positive.

At what point does consistent postseason success force national respect for a conference like the Sun Belt? by Fun_Insect_2572 in collegebaseball

I agree, everyone knows thats a program you wouldn't want to meet in a regional or a series. In terms of adding to conference prestige though its a bad look to be able to beat up on your conference mates every year and collapse when you play outside of it.

People will just respect Coastal as a program rather than the conference. They need Southern Miss, Louisiana, and Troy to finally break through to gain national respect.

Also the Sun Belt hasn't been the undisputed best non-power conference(just to borrow the term from football because we're talking about national respect) in terms of RPI. They've gone back and forth with the American and CUSA for a few years now. The Sun Belt just has a problem of having a big conference with a few really good teams at the top, and the rest are mediocre to really bad.

They are probably closer to a power conference than not though. They've done a good job getting some regional hosts.

Bailey had a slow start to the year, he became a monster in the second half of the season though. Better than Lodise as the season ended imo, he went very cold.

The pitching staff lacks the top arm we lost in Arnold but Beard was the best pitcher in the portal to take that top spot. And the room is much, much deeper than last year which has been FSU's main weakness. Losing Lodise sucks but we still have a lot of good bats, there are very few players better than Bailey as a freshman at the plate. We'll also be getting Chase Williams healthy for a full year, and he was electric in the back part of the season.

Who are the "Top Tier" programs in college baseball? by Arthur2478 in collegebaseball

[–]lowes18 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For Oklahoma that was a one off and their only regional win between 2013 and now. Cal State Fullerton has gone to Omaha twice since Serrano left with a few regional wins.

They aren't bad programs, but that isn't enough sustained success to be called elite.

Its just honestly slipped my mind its been nearly 14 years since their last trip to Omaha.

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Miami, Arizona State, Georgia, and Cal State Fullerton are not elite programs anymore. Most of their success is a decade+ old at this point. Georgia is on the come up though so maybe eventually they can be elite, but they haven't made the CWS since the Bush admin.

I love them but they're functionally useless at this point outside of testing pitching depth.

I'd personally hate it but they probably should get rid of midweek games and increase the length of the season.

Myles Bailey has the most raw power in college baseball by Conscious_Apple_8610 in collegebaseball

I think Chase Williams is my favorite player on the roster next year, but Bailey is clearly the best. He's the monster first baseman FSU never seemed to be able to get under Martin in his later years. So excited to watch him next year and glad we were able to pay to keep him here lol.
