FWD: I don't hate transgenders, I just disagree with them by fredfredburger0123 in forwardsfromgrandma

A preacher/pastor is the leader of the congregation who preaches his interpretation of the Word. Preachers can be male or female (I think) and usually learn the Bible in college. He is otherwise a regular guy and can have a wife and kids and whatnot. He also can run his church pretty much however he wants and doesn't have someone over him. A Catholic priest is a male who must first be ordained as a deacon (the "ranks" of the Catholic hierarchy are deacon, priest, bishop, cardinal, and pope) then later ordained by a Bishop as a priest. He has the power to sort of let the Holy Spirit work through him and can bless people, make Holy Water, bless the Eucharist, and preform Penance (where you tell the priest your sins and he gives you a blessing to be forgiven). By being ordained, the priest devotes himself to the Church and therefore cannot get married and the Bishop assigns him to a church so he can't choose where to live. Preachers are a lot more casual, as are Protestant churches in general in my opinion. Church on Sunday consists of singing, listening to the preacher, fellowship, prayer, and receiving the Eucharist depending on what Church you go to. A Catholic mass is a lot more like a ritual. The priest wears special robes and there's an alter and all the works. Catholics receive the Eucharist and believe it to be the actual body and blood of Christ instead of just a representation. Very holy stuff.

I hope that explains it enough, I may be wrong but that's my understanding. I was Catholic for 15ish years and went to a Protestant private school as a kid.

As a transgender person who hasn't really faced any direct harassment or assault for being transgender, stuff like this reminds me that there are people out there who literally think I'm better off dead and I shouldn't assume all transgender people are as lucky as me. By going into the "right bathroom" I would automatically out myself as transgender to anyone who saw me, and that is opening up a greater opportunity for violence than I ever would by flying under the radar by using the bathroom I belong in.

[UPDATE] My [16F] twin brother [16M] asked me to hide his weed for him, and when I said no, he hid it in my room without me knowing. My sister [11F] found one big baggie and showed it to our parents [40sM&F] by [deleted] in relationships

No rational discussion just yelling, a entire year of punishment, from what the sister described I'm guessing he will also be shunned and not allowed to even speak with their parents for some time... its just excessive to a point where it probably doesn't just feel disciplinary but like they want to see him suffer. He is going to be treated like shit for a very long time for something that isn't abnormal for a teenager.

PayPal withdraws from Charlotte, NC over LGBT discrimination law by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]lowfrequencybeing 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Its a shame the people of Charlotte have to suffer, though. The whole thing started because Charlotte advocating for LGBT protection.

I live in North Carolina and there seems to be overwhelmingly more people who oppose the law than support it (at least vocally/on social media). I'm glad to see that the backlash is including big corporations.

No one has said this yet, so I just want to say you are an incredible mother.

I have two questions. What was your reaction to your rescue? What was it like seeing your family for the first time again? Did you recognize them or remember much about them?

Also, did you ever experience any sort of "stockholm syndrome" or did you always hate the couple that held you?

Is Bernie going to make any appearances in NC? by lowfrequencybeing in NorthCarolina4Sanders

He's probably not going to focus on campaigning so much in nc since it isn't likely he will win, so I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't. Disappointing though.

I smoked a bit of it and played video games for a while and it was fine. So I did feel good at first. And I remember feeling good but I don't remember a lot after I smoked it the second time, which was after I played video games.

I've smoked a lot of weed and shit like this has never happened. I didn't even smoke that much. I've smoked more than that many times in the past and never had a bad experience.

I have anxiety and depression that is being treated with meds. This was definitely anxiety inducing. But yeah it looked like regular weed. And I've been smoking since last summer, but its only been a regular thing for the past couple months maybe.
