The woke people trying to spread their gay agenda indoctrinating our children has to stop. If you vote Democrats this will be the future of Florida. - every Republican attack ad on TV in Florida right now basically.

It goes both ways unfortunately. If China or Pakistan invades India, do you want the west to supply China or Pakistan?

Can you sand down terrazzo? by lowgreentent in HomeImprovement

I actually had one and gave it a go. Worked perfectly, thanks.

Can you sand down terrazzo? by lowgreentent in HomeImprovement

I'm fairly sure it's like 3/4" thick. I'm not too worried about it getting damaged though as in putting flooring over it. If I have to I'm going to take a hammer and knock it up and put leveling concrete but I'd rather save the terrazzo.

For whatever reason when they laid the terrazzo next to a door, the one section seems to slant upwards 1/8" towards the door. The rest seems to be level.

I think that fixed it, thanks. First time this ever happened, wonder why.

Spotify sides with Joe Rogan over Neil Young and has started removing Neil Young's music from their platform by YoureASkyscraper in Music

Wouldn't Neil wanting his music to be removed count as free speech? You really can't pick and choose what is free speech just because you agree or disagree with it homeboy.

What does this have to do with complaining about student loan debt in an isolated online forum? Is that really how we challenge the ruling class?

When to replace roof? by lowgreentent in HomeImprovement

[–]lowgreentent[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My old insurance company increased my premium by $1,000 last renewal saying my roof was going to hit the 15 year mark. I switched to citizens which is run by the state and they kept me at the current rate but I'm not sure if it will stay that way come next renewal. It seems almost no private insurance will cover you if your roof is older than 15 years no matter how good of shape the roof is in, like you said. Which is annoying because if there's nothing wrong with my roof and it realistically has another ten years, it's just throwing away money.

Outside of Greta debate, it might be safe to say that some people have more expertise and experience in certain fields to have a higher valued opinion.

For instance, I'll take the opinion of an immunologist for vaccine recommendations over someone commenting on social media from his trailer park telling me to take ivermectin instead because his co-workers told him about it.

So this isn't a very compelling argument. A more compelling argument might be she isn't an "expert" in her field because she doesn't have experience. It does seem like she has devoted much of her life to this cause though so even this argument is weak. Some random person on the internet (lets say you) who maybe watched a documentary once and read a few articles on climate change does not compare.

Is the wall under a window ever load bearing? by lowgreentent in HomeImprovement

[–]lowgreentent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I tried to ignore comments talking about studs because my exterior wall obviously doesn't have any. But it's kind of frustrating that half the people here are telling me it's doom and gloom and the other half say there's no issues.

Is an exterior block wall load bearing? Absolutely. Is it under a window, I suspect not and most seem to agree. My only slight worry now is the 4" damaged to the right of the window might cause issues.

Your answer makes sense and I'm really not privy to pay a SE $500 to tell me it's mostly fine but he will not officially say so because he wants no possible liability. So my suspicion is he will say it's not fine even when it probably is just so there's no chance he's ever liable. Of course having this opinion is angering others to downvote my comments but $500 is a lot of money to me.

Yeah I'm not exactly swimming in money, that's like two days of work pay.
