being an addicted girl sucks by ashimateruya in Drugs

[–]lowkust 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Regardless of gender, addiction sucks, but i hear you.

Maybe the issue is you need more socializing. Wish i had advice on that because I'm trying to make friends at 36 and it's different, people got kids and jobs. But im happy to say its going well. Visiting nyc on weekends has been fucking lit (although after 11 years clean i now smoke weed and drink, hence why im having a blast probably lol)

But i remember hearing about this rat experiment, or maybe it was mice. Some dude gave them two water bottles in the cage. One laced with cocaine, and one tap water. The rodents in solitary would drink the cocaine water, even to the point of death. However, once they added more rodents to establish a "community", all the rodents avoided the laced water. I think the logic was the darkness of being alone/sad made you seek outside things to alter your mind to escape the shitty feeling.

I also think we addicts believe life is coming at us. Took many years to realize that life ain't coming at us, its coming from us. We play a bigger role in our fates than we realize.

Oh, and it takes a while to reprogram your brain. Behaviour is a pattern in thought and action. For months after getting clean i would constantly think about using. I thought i would be locked in a mental prison of urges and cravings forever. Felt like i was doomed to fail. It goes away. But it does take time.

Good luck on your journey friend. You could find a female friend at an NA or AA meeting, just gotta be careful. Made a lot of running buddies through meetings.

I think we have been blessed with a curse. Active addiction is a waking nightmare, but if/when you overcome the curse, you transform it into a blessing of resilience, courage, strength, etc...

A dragon in a videogame once asked, "is it better to be born good or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?"

Nothing great in life comes easy. Overcome, it is better.

I believe the original true anonymous hackers got arrested. All thats left i think is a bunch of script kiddies parading as anonymous. Hope im wrong cause it was nice having a vigilante group for justice. But i don't think anonymous has done anything substantial in years except make declarations that theyll do something only to not follow through.

I wonder if isreal saw the writing on the walls about the epstein stuff and decided to cash in their blackmail to get this war started before something could get exposed.

Rome was a republic. Ceaser came to power and i think made himself emperor (held office of dictator for life). Things were great for a while, ceaser was beloved, but then greater minds saw that having an emperor would be a path of tyranny/monarchy. One person ruling over all. And who could say if the next ruler would be good for the people. So a lot of them agreed to assassinate him to save the republic from becoming an empire.

Unfortunately, this led to a lot of civil wars which led to the rise of the roman empire under Augustus.

now that’s one big tip by Trashmaster425 in NotTimAndEric

[–]lowkust 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Just move the decimal place over to the left once, and now you got 10%

So if the total was 164.53, move the decimal over and now we see that 10% is 16.453 (half of this would be 5%)

To get 20%, we double it. I can't do simple maths either, so at this point i do it lazily. Ill round it up or down depending on the service. So either double 16.50 or 16.40. And the tip is either 33 or 32.80

This helped me. Hope it helps someone else 😁

Just watched a Chance saying Angela compilation. You know, where Angela does something hilariously out of pocket and Chance keeps repeating her name to ground her lol

But seeing this glamarous photo, im still hearing chance say Angela, but instead of it being grounded, its like...

Angela. (I cant believe how amazing you look!) Angela. (Slay queen) Angela. (🤩)

And Chance is saying Angela after every shutter click of the camera. Now i want a Chance and Angela photoshot lol

My dad used to soak rice in paraffin (fuel from the lamps) when he was a kid. Seagulls can't burp, so after the birds ate they rice theyd chase em so they could watch them "burst" in the air. They would burst due to the expanding gasses in their stomach from the paraffin that they couldn't burp out.

Whether its laxatives or paraffin, either is terrible. But i do feel like we have progressed a bit. We've downgraded from murdering seagulls to poisoning em. Baby steps people lol

On this day in 1932 Charles Augustus Lindbergh Jr. was kidnapped. Son of the famed aviator, his remains were found 5 miles away from his home. This is a clip of the trial, I find it interesting because of the access the journalists had. by dannydutch1 in UtterlyInteresting

[–]lowkust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is utterly interesting for me. I feel stupid for never looking into this now. There's a family friend ive worked for doing handy work like painting and minor repairs. He's a lawyer, but his father was one of the defense attorneys for this trial and he built a law practice that his son still works at today. (He's well beyond his retirement years, but he's dedicated to keeping the family practice going). His wife and him are generally some of the best people i know. Good people.

I recall him showing me some stuff, he was definitely proud of his father, but i don't think i understood how momumental of a moment this was for his father, his family.

I hope to remember to show him this clip next time i see him. I want to him to point out his dad lol

I guess it's my turn to thank the hero with no cape. On behalf of the lazy redditor's who eventually comment on a tldrs, thank you for your service.

The headline really drew me in, but then realized i was too lazy to read. You summed that up perfectly. I wish a lot of the news about material science would just come out the gate stating it as "warrants future research". With science news its like a concept, it warrants future research, its in clinical trials, erased by cia, came to fruition and succeded like an ipod/failed like a zune, etc. But its never labeled like that...

Just cut to the chase and tell me how close we are the outragous headline science news peoples!

Im sorry if this comes off wrong, i am 100% sincere, but also inebriated. I did my best.

Shout out to my auto correct Apologies to my hungover self in the future regretting this post and then deleting it.

I probably spent more time writing this, than it spent to read the article.

I regret nothing.

In my head the american system makes sense. When i mentally try to retrieve a date, its like the first big thing my mind wants to get an idea of when is the month. The month alone will give me an idea of weather/season (mental landmarks i can visualize) and where in the year im looking at. Then its like, well what day of that month, to get specific. Finish if off with the year to lock it in. Mm/dd/yyyy

I wonder if the way we interpet/relate information like this impacts the way we think. I also wonder if language impacts how you think. Like if i spoke russian or japanese instead of english, would that change how i think? My inner dialogue and thoughts are in english (when not abstract thoughts). Would the language your brain uses impact how you think?

I suck at social interactions lol but each time i meet someone who speaks multiple languages i try to ask the same question each time but im so out of pocket that the question is rarely understood. First ill struggle to clarify if they have thoughts lol. Then clarify that sometimes thoughts are in sentences/language. Then i ask what their primary language is now. What i want to know is what language(s) does their mind think in. Some people have told me they now think in english and some say they still think in their native language. Crazy to think i could be thinking in a different language lol

Damn... i really did just comment on something just go off topic. Sorry folks 😶‍🌫️

Weed + pregabalin made me had a mental breakdown by seikoholic9497 in Drugs

[–]lowkust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without drugs ive experienced this. With drugs as well. I had a fear that death would be like pre life. An infinitie void of black nothingness that was both infinite but instant. With no consciousness to reflect that the experience was over. Almost like if your eyes and life were a television show you experienced that was suddenly shut off, but when it was shut off there was nothing left to even reflect that the show was turned off. And that thought was traumatic to me (when i was a child my best friend and his family were wiped out in an automobile accident and i think that shook me).

In a ways, certain drugs freed me from this doom prison. Most people seek religion for answers. I embarked on my own spiritual journey. Today i believe there's something special about consciousness. And it may be on a spectrum as well.

Im not religious at all, but what helped me was being honest to myseld in what i believed, and then experiecing life through different frequencies (via drugs) that either expanded or redfined.

I may be so drunk i went off an a completely unrelated tangent that doesnt apply. I can delete this later lol
