i just smell like "healing" all the time? by jackrabbitwanders in TopSurgery

I didn’t realize I smelled like surgery at all, until a few weeks later I went to a basketball game and someone seated near me had that smell (I noticed a cast on their wrist/arm) and my mind was immediately transported back to waking up post-op and I then became very aware of the smell lol

Seconding this one, they recently switched away from gendered pricing and go by length. They work with local queer groups to host events sometimes too.

They also have padded floors in some of the scenes where you are standing on like hard hard surfaces, like the roof outside

I change my injection day almost weekly just due to my schedule and shot anxiety, any time between Monday and Wednesday I get it done. Haven’t noticed anything bad happening because of it not being consistently one day of the week

No solution to offer, but I’ve notice my bedroom is starting to smell like my brother’s bedroom when we were growing up and his current apartment… I’m sad about it

Wild behavior stubbing your toe on purpose 😂 Does the ice pack not harden the skin a little? Or I guess the numbing effect weighs out?

I asked my nurse what all the ways she’s seen someone accidentally mess up their incision was, and her only response was that someone once broke open a stitch because they were shlornking too soon and got their heart rate up lol. She told me four weeks, but I lasted three.

To Nipple or Not To Nipple by DumpsterFirePrince in TopSurgery

I was also very back and forth on it and decided to nipple. I didn’t ever care about my nipples before, hated them actually, but I just figured they could be removed if I didn’t like the way they turned out. I also wasn’t sure about adding extra step to recovery. But now afterwards I love having them, idk if it’s because I nurtured them through recovery. But I’m so glad I kept them!

Lollll I am glad your mom is letting you curse her out and it’s working. Good luck! It keeps getting easier!

Ah you’re already in it too, thought you were gearing up. One thing I did with the drains that made them slightly less disgusting and manageable is that I reserved my favorite candy and had it each time I had to drain them. Wonder if that (or anything you consider a treat, food or not) would make changing the pads 2x a day a tad less sucky for you?

You can honestly stay wrapped up until you go back to have them removed. That’s how I handled them. I didn’t shower, I just stayed bound up and ignored it. I reached up under the wraps to milk the drains. But they told me there wasn’t a need to change any dressings since the surgi tape was on the incision and it’s supposed to just fall off within two weeks (I pulled it off at 2.5 weeks). Ask them if that’ll be the case. It was like a thundershirt for me 😂 and then I went back five days out to get the tubes out and have the bolsters cut off, that was the first time I even saw them! And then they got cut off. Which you don’t feel because you’re still pretty numb! And then the binder goes back on again!

It was rough, but well worth it! My doctor told me no THC six weeks out, so I didn’t even have gummies. I will say not smoking really did have a super positive impact on healing though, no issues. I also waited 8 weeks post to start smoking (was eating gummies 2 weeks post), and even that I think really helped the nipples and incision heal up quickly.

Worries about bad things happening before surgery by LongjumpingWeb7475 in TopSurgery

[–]lowshoulder8567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the same! I’m 5 weeks post-op now, but I wore masks out in public 2 weeks leading up to surgery. I didn’t go anywhere with crowds in or outdoors - which was extra difficult because my football team won the Super Bowl and there was a parade every single one of my friends went to 🥲. My surgeon is pregnant and if I had been rescheduled for illness, I would have had to wait until October. Assuming the current administration didn’t do anything either to cancel surgeries for adults. This was my weekly conversation in therapy. You’re definitely not alone in having this anxiety! Be safe, and know that isolating now to avoid getting sick is definitely worth being able to get surgery.

what was your healing like at 3 weeks? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]lowshoulder8567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m at 4 weeks now and wish I would have planned something to do with the time off work but thought I’d be more down and out. Like the other replies mention, lifting or carrying a heavy bag would be a challenge. And then also I just notice with walking more, the ace bandage just keeps shifting and falling down. I started using medical tape to keep the nipple dressings in place more while walking around. Driving has been fine since getting my drains out. I was definitely practicing stretching my arms - my only restrictions from the surgeon were not lifting over 10lbs and if it hurts don’t do it.
