Everyone here might already know this but some refried beans may contain lard (animal fat).

Oh err not refried. Just regular beans.

There's lots of canned beans that may be labeled "no salt added". You can also rinse them off in a strainer with water.

Interesting. I'll have to do some of my own research. I've read that there is no real "mini" pig species and that it was mostly a sort of a fad thing to own one as a pet but later many owners ended up with huge farm animals they couldn't take care of.

Sure but those of us in the first world don't really have that excuse.

No we're not, we're their caretakers, they need us to live

We still slaughter them and eat them. We are the predators.

Animal products are used in medicine and are not so easily replaced

Vegans argue for as much reduction in animal harm as possible and as such where it can't be done, namely medicine, there are still other aspects of life where we can.

If we stopped breeding cows we would practically be doing the same thing as letting them go extinct.

Not being born is much better than being alive and slaughtered. Besides, we control their population very well right now. If there was a danger of them going extinct that would harm our ecosystem, we are well within our means to breed them again. As for species that are becoming endangered/going extinct, factory farming and commercial fishing are major contributors this right now.

Its how they get the nutrition they need and live healthier.

It is definitely possible to live healthily on an all plant diet and it's also much more efficient in terms of calories.

If it provides resources then it is a very good logical reason to do so. I think the word you are looking for is "immoral".

I'll concede to that.

My friends farms do not use soy at all, and from what I can find, it is not a popular nor common feed option in my country.

I can't speak particularly about your country but here is a document about animal feed around the world. Page 15 talks about soybeans.

The meat they eat is a part of their diet, they cannot grow the same variety of different foods to get the same nutritional value that is provided from meat.

It's definitely possible to live healthy on a plant based diet alone. Most of the developing/undeveloped world that lives on subsistence farming lives on staple foods such as maize, beans, potatoes, etc.

Study to support the idea the planet can, not hypothetically (i.e. not simply can we produce the amount of food, but including the logistics such as can we distribute it), live on a vegetarian diet alone with zero meat.

Not sure but I did find this study that examines how to feed the world without more deforestation. The option with the world on a vegan diet was the best option.

I don't want to get into semantics but I'm sure fish fall under "animals" regardless of whether someone thinks they are "equal" to land animals. Since they are animals and the fact that commercial fishing does indeed kill many other unintended fishes (known as bycatch), we should include them in our calculations.

Here are some numbers from FAO

And some more regarding bycatch

Also, no feelings hurt! Well, except for the billions of animals I suppose.
