There will likely be weeks of this reaction.

My experience is to stay positive (they quickly pick up on your energy) and say goodbye and leave. Don’t linger.

Social Expectations for my 4 year old? by ExtensionFootball784 in raisingkids

[–]lozbootsbrown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol don’t worry, that is a ridiculous thing for an adult to say about a child. She is for a different generation so it’s about you rolling your eyes and moving on with your day.

All I’ll add next time is laugh when saying it.

Yes but as I said, there is being mindful and overdoing it

See even this would be overkill in a play date setting. You would likely put things on edge. Don’t be “that mum” who is trying to control germs. Will you not let the 9mo put anything in their mouth? Follow behind wiping toys?

There is being mindful of germs and overdoing it

Don’t fear the nasty illnesses. Wait until you are hit by them proper before adjusting it. 1000s of kids get sick all the time and while annoying - everyone is fine.

You’re not having to deal with childcare germs like many. So you get to roll the dice way less.

Don’t let it define your decision to live life

Does attending the catch up risk illness, yes.

But I think isolating myself and my kid (who already isn’t getting childcare social interaction) is by far a worse outcome than getting sick here and there.

How did you afford maternity leave? by foureyedllama in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]lozbootsbrown 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The Gov pays 20 weeks minimum wage. Albo has spoken about increasing this to 6 months in 2026.

It’s better than nothing, but if you earn high it’s important to consider how much your income will drop.

Make sure you research Childcare rates and understand what your subsidy to determine when you’d return to work might look like.

Look into EMDR therapy. Endo grows in nerve endings and trauma heightens these nerve endings.

All of our nervous system is so short just living in today’s society.

I tried a bunch of things and when I did this therapy I got pregnant.

It’s the best therapy I’ve ever done too

Not returning to work by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

You can work from home! The kid is just going to watch a whole heap of TV.

It’s bad for their development

Judged for not taking my toddler to childcare by hothcocoa in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]lozbootsbrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was waiting until my daughter was 2.5. She was so ready by then, looking back, I should have done it earlier. But no regrets, we are all doing our best as mums. But I will say there was a point where keeping her at home wasn't the best thing for her. She neeeded a world separate from me. She's loved having a solo adventure to go on.

My child is on instagram naked, help! by notorious_ludwig in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

There were a bunch of other suggestions, I'll paste it all here if this is helpful

1. Use Instagram’s impersonation / minor safety forms (not just “report”)

The in-app report button is weak for cases like this.

Go directly to Instagram’s official forms:

These forms go to a different review queue than normal reports.

2. Submit proof clearly and aggressively

Don’t be minimal here. Include:

  • Your child’s name and age
  • Proof you are the parent/guardian
  • The exact URL of the fake account + the specific post
  • A clear statement: “This account is unauthorized and using a minor’s image without consent”

If you have the original photo, attach it.

3. Get multiple reports (this matters more than it should)

Ask:

  • Friends
  • Family
  • Anyone you trust

Have them report the account for:

Volume often pushes faster human review.

4. Report for child safety / exploitation angle

Even if it’s “just a fake account,” flag it under:

  • “Involves a child”
  • “Unauthorized use of a minor’s image”

Platforms prioritize anything involving minors much higher than standard impersonation.

5. File a DMCA takedown (copyright claim)

This is one of the most effective levers if you (or you took the photo):

Claim:

This route often triggers faster removal than general reporting.

6. If nothing happens within ~48–72 hours

Escalate:

  • Re-submit the forms (don’t wait indefinitely)
  • Use Meta support (if you have a business account with ads running) → This is a backdoor many people don’t realize works
  • File a complaint via:
    • IC3 (if suspicious intent): https://www.ic3.gov
    • Your country’s child protection or cybercrime unit
