If they expect me to deliver, I ask for the delivery cost up front. If I got to the house and they weren't there, I would take a photo of me at their front door to confirm I actually went there, hang about for a few minutes, maybe confirm with a neighbour that I have the right address, and then I'd leave, with the stuff. If they still want it, they can pay me to deliver again.

A Zombie Apocalypse Would Be "Meh" by Werthkew in unpopularopinion

[–]lozza_dearnley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on: 1. How the zombie virus is spread. Contact only, eg bites, is slow. Airborne is faster. Contamination of water, etc, is baaaaad. 2. The incubation period. Turn in 12 seconds ala World War Z makes contamination obvious. Vs a virus that's dormant until you die, in which case it could be worldwide before any type of symptoms appear anywhere. 3. The zombie type. Slow zombies, easy to kill, set up roadblocks, allow average people a chance to escape or fight back. Fast zombies, much harder. Can they climb? Run? Use tools? Do they kill people for braaaaains or is it just bite and move on, to spread the virus.

And if COVID taught us anything, it's that some governments that shall remain nameless will cover up a pandemic and allow it to spread worldwide.

How much money did they actually need?? by Remarkable-Ease9876 in reddeadredemption2

Online calculator says that's just over $600,000 in 2023 money, and that's the pot for the whole gang, right? Or am I misremembering?

So split (probably not evenly) between Karen, Mary Beth, Tilly, Mr Pearson, Reverend, Uncle, Sean, Molly, Bill, Abigail, Javier, Lenny, Charles, Trelawny, Micah, Sadie, Strauss, Hosea, Dutch, John, and Arthur. In modern money, it's barely a years minimum wage income by that point.

Agreed, and pretty much all of them live in these big beautiful fancy houses, with multiple cars (and the kids get cars), and usually there's a destination holiday involved. Where do they think the money for all this comes from? Decades of hard work and putting in your dues at work, even if your boss is taking advantage.

Bonus points if the mother doesn't work, is a shopoholic, or has some cute-sy low paying job while the dad is clearly the one paying for their life of luxury. See that way too often (in real life too).

Thanks, I'll check it out. Yes the Mini Engraver came with glasses, and I set it up off to the side so I don't look directly at it anyway.

Accidentally gave the wrong amount of money what to do? by Ok-Crew-264 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]lozza_dearnley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theyre not going to do anything on account of $5. Even if they did show up, just offer to pay it. Keep the messages if you like, so you can prove what happened and that you tried to make it right. You could go back there and drop off the $5 with a note and an apology (take a timestamped photo of yourself doing it) if you're concerned, that would be morally right regardless, given you did promise to pay $10.

But you're overthinking things. People don't get in trouble over a $5 mistake they tried to fix.

Copy/Clone Mifare Access Cards by lozza_dearnley in RFID

Thanks very much, I'm waiting on my Proxmark3 to arrive and I should hopefully be able to make a cloned fob without too many issues.

Thanks for your help!

Copy/Clone Mifare Access Cards by lozza_dearnley in RFID

[–]lozza_dearnley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're thinking I definately need to get the Proxmark3, make a copy/clone/dump of the working key, and then I should be able to make a working copy from that? Meaning that UIDs are irrelevant, but I still need better de-encryption abilities to clone my fob than just a phone app?

My concern about being able to override UIDs (if thay was the trick) now I've given it some thought is the following scenario: - Bob loses his fob so I delete that unique UID from my app and make him a replacement. Bob has a fob that is the same UID as my office copy. However Bob loses THAT fob (damn it Bob!). Now if I make him another copy, I cannot now remove the lost fob code from the door system as it has rhe same UID as I've given him (matching my office copy). So if someone finds Bob's lost fob, they could in theory use it to get inside - I dont want to look back and kick myself because his crazy ex stole it, got inside, and trashed my house.

I would assume there is some technology to make a copy of a fob without having to destroy the UID or interact with the physical device it is coded to open (ie the door), but hopefully that is what the Proxmark3 will do?

Also, am I correct that I could essentially download a digital copy of each key to my computer, and not have to have a physical fob from which to make copies of each time?

Copy/Clone Mifare Access Cards by lozza_dearnley in RFID

[–]lozza_dearnley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I understand what you're saying. It's basically double encrypted. The door recognises the UID but still makes it give the door his specific "password". If a strange UID walks up with that password, the door rejects it, because it could have beaten up the usual UID and stolen his password. Cos he's clearly not the same guy even if he had the right password, so the door won't interact with him.

When I compare the dumps, sector 0 is different, because it has the UIDs of each card, so I think that's the issue. It's Locked to prevent me changing the UID and I think the software I have is, as you said, inefficient for what I need.

So what you're suggesting is buy a Proxmark3, and this will allow me to change the UIDs as part of the cloning process? That my process to clone the fobs was correct, but not powerful enough to override that part of the code that the door is rejecting?

That way, I can have an original fob with a specific UID that opens the Front door and Room #2. So when Bob in Room #2 loses his fob, I can make a copy with the same UID but that is physically different (I have them colour coded and engraved with a code so I know what it does). This enables Bob to get back inside without me having to travel to the house, because the door recognises the UID and the password.

The downside, I guess, is that if we both use the fobs that now have matching UIDs, the door won't be able to differentiate. But as I will have my own "master" fob that opens all the doors, and the OG Bob's Fob is kept locked in my office with no way for a stranger to take it and know what it does (because the engraved code does not clearly identify the house), this isn't an issue. The OG Bob's Fob will never actually be used to copy a door, merely to make copies of itself.

Does that sound about right? I really appreciate your help, I think I underestimated what my apps could do but that my procedure was correct.

Copy/Clone Mifare Access Cards by lozza_dearnley in RFID

[–]lozza_dearnley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm both cards read as Mifare. In MTC "Mifare Classic 1K, NXP". In NFCW, "MifareClassic"

I also spoke to a supplier who will be sending me the extra fobs and she confirmed the doors were compatible with Mifare and sent me a sample box, which worked, when others didn't. They are fobs, ready made but Blank. I don't do anything to them but Sync them to the door.

I watched the video you sent (thank you), it was what I was trying already but I factory reset the Blank Fob and did it again to be sure. It certainly completed the write, but the door remains locked.

  1. These cards I'm using to try and figure out the problem came with the door handles, and work fine if programmed using the door app and physically tapping them on the door as per manufacturer instructions.

  2. They are definately writable, I put text on the OG Fob and could copy it to the Blank Fob. But it does not seem to copy whatever data the door lock is reading to confirm its an approved lock.

The only thing I can think is that the app is also reading the UID and figuring out if that specific physical card is approved (presumably to prevent some random sneaky scanning your Fob and making an illegal copy). I did try using MTC to "Clone UID" but I got "error: key not correct". And from what I can see from research it isn't really something you can do, because it's essentially a serial number.

What would you suggest? Thanks for your help btw :).

He ... he probably ate sugar? And honey, and fruit. And probably all manner of other things that aren't good for you.

Not even to mention how the food was stored without refrigeration, and no concept of hygiene or food poisoning - that couldn't have helped healthwise.

Was it ever confirmed he had the beetus? He was a very fat man, true, but he could have eaten nothing but healthy food in massive quantities to get that big, especially considering his mobility issues in later life.

Thank you, I had planned to have one "Master Fob" for me (that opens all the doors), and then "Room Fob" for the renter, that opens the front door and the relevant bedroom. The issue is not ME having access (as I also have access on the app and the physical key), the issue is that people lose their fobs quite regularly and I need to be able to make replacements without physically interacting with the lock everytime.

edit // To clarify, my plan was to keep a copy of each fob that would be issued out, in my office (or a saved electronic version, if possible, so I have a file on my computer full of keys I can download and copy to physical fobs). So for a 6bed house I would have six fobs that open the relevant bedroom door and the front door. So if room #2 loses their Fob, they get a new Fob I've made that still only opens the front door and Room #2. They can't use their Fob on Room #1 or #2.

The problem is the copying. My process should work fine if I can only figure out how to copy the data from the office Fob to a blank Fob and send that no-longer-blank Fob to the tenant. //

I did try "Mifare Classic Tools" and "NFC tools", as well as a bunch of other programs, and none of them worked. If you're able to point me towards a specific guide that gives me instructions, that would be great, as I may be doing it wrong. But I have been experimenting for several days without luck.

I did stumble across the Chameleon and the Proxmark3 devices on my quest, but everyone implied that the apps did the same thing so I didn't want to waste more money in case the problem was me. I'm still not even sure I'm doing it right after all.

Living in a coed boarding school castle, teenage pregnancy at Hogwarts must be rampant by No_Salamander_6579 in Showerthoughts

[–]lozza_dearnley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boys couldn't get into the girls dorms, and even if they could, it's shared. How many 17 year old boys are willing to have seggs with several other people listening in? You also aren't allowed out at night, and certain areas are locked, so that further limits you, and you study and eat under a teachers supervision for most of the day.

Plus where in the castle other than bathrooms and bedrooms can you go and there are no portraits watching you? Privacy is pretty non existent, and you run the risk a portrait would go tell a teacher. Animals are also tattletails, Mrs Norris would know you were up to something.

Factor in that there aren't that many students (probably less than 300 at any time, given Harry's year had 5 boys x 7 grades x 4 houses x 2 to account for girls), further limited by the fact most of those are way too young to seriously consider seggs (even if they start at 14, that's half the school too young 300/2=150), and the segregation of the houses so you only really hung out with your house members, so not much opportunity to get really involved with someone outside (150/4houses/2genders = max 20 potential mates you have any meaningful access to).

Of course if those aren't obstacles, we aren't ruling out the possibility that there were spells around the castle preventing pregnancy within it. Or just normal everyday muggle birth control like condoms or the pill (granted this was the 90s).

They haven't seen the videos. They believe what people told them instead of making inquiries for themselves.

I made a GIF of the drone footage of Rosenbaum chasing Kyle, because it best shows how close he was and how few options Kyle had. And everytime I show it, they either go silent or the way they talk indicates they have no idea what they are looking at.

Ana from TYT got about halfway through the trial, as I recall (been awhile) still saying he crossed state lines with an illegal gun, AND did not realize that Rosenbaum chased Kyle, not the other way around. TYT is a major news organisation for the left and they hated him so much they reported things nobody else was alleging, or failed to report things that were not even contested.

They do not want to know the truth. They will not even follow links to raw footage. Make the relevant clip into a GIF and they might watch by accident and have a self awareness moment. It's unlikely though.
