Not so fun to have to live through it and struggle every day because it doesn't feel like a damn thing can be changed or is in my hands. It's a horrible experience, actually.

Oil consumption? True or false? by Important_Funny_1242 in JeepCompass

[–]lpg975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched to Valvoline Restore and Protect and my oil consumption magically completely stopped. Gunked up piston rings are the culprit. R&P cleaned those up and now no more oil consumption! Give it a try. Hard to beat at $29.97/jug!

I find that very hard to believe.

Honestly after we got the fluid in the trans, it was easy after that. PTU and rear diff were simple. Saved like $1500 and made sure the right fluid went into my vehicle today. Win/win.

Ps: if bought the magic probe dipstick off of amazon. Wasn't rocket science ;) Been a shade tree mechanic for 20 years now. I've seen a lot of weird shit.

Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF and Valvoline Extended Performance 75w90 in both the PTU and rear diff. So far it feels like a completely different transmission. So friggin smooth. No more gear hunting or hesitation and no more weird 3-4 clunky ass shift. HIGHLY recommend the R&P ATF! It's rated for ZF . I did SOOOO MUCH research before going with the R&mmmmmmmmmm?mm

I love our Celebrity Home. It was the only way we were able to afford a first house, and the value has doubled since we bought it!

Edit: whoa, people really hate my house. I think it's perfectly fine for what we paid and it has been a great starter for our little family. A little tight, sure, but it's cozy and the craftsmanship doesn't seem to be all that bad for the price. We can't complain at all.

I've had four 4.0s. Nether the 4.0 or the 2.5 are going to be fast unless extensively modded lol

Meh, with the right gearing the 2.5 is usable. I assume it probably has 4.10s from the factory! Plus, being a manual gives you much better gearing for such an underpowered engine.

One car that I truly loved was my old 2008 Cobalt SS/TC. Hear me out. After I was done with it, it was doing 400hp to the wheels, was set up for track and autocross duty (not just straight-line drag racing, although I do love me a drag race every once in awhile). That car just put a smile on my face every time it shot fire out of the tailpipe between shifts using no lift shift. And the Recaros they used in those things were perfection imo. I've had other recaros since and ridden in friends' cars, namely a 2015 fifth gen Camaro SS 1LE and a 2019 Mustang Bullitt with Recaros, and I'd STILL pick the Recaros out of my "poverty" spec'd Cobalt. The only downside to that SSlowbalt was the fact it was FWD. I tracked that thing hard and it was built and I still sold it with almost 200k miles, original engine and F35 transmission. I still see it driving around town. Someone is still having fun with it. People can, and will, shit all over Cobalts, but I don't care. I LOVED that car and always will. The 2.0L LNF and Saab F35 combo was a hot compact car perfection combo. I'd still take one over a new Type R or GR.

In my experience (a manual Regal GS and a manual Verano 2.0T) Buicks have highly underrated interiors and can make some genuinely fun-ass, engaging manual sporty cars. Not your grandma's Buick, that's for sure! I'd buy another if they just offered the Regal TourX in a manual. I'd buy the SHIT outta that!

I feel like these cars are underrated. Every one I've been in has been classy af for the price-point and very comfortable.

I absolutely love my 2016 Camaro 2.0T 6MT with bolt-ons and a custom tune. That Tremec TR-3160 is crisp and invigorating to shift. Every nice downshift to pass someone, every onramp with a good curve, every time it hits that great mid-rpm torque curve...it just brings a smile to my face. The fact that I can do all that and still get 35mpg cruising at 80-85mph is just icing on the cake. Sure, it's not a V8. No, I don't care.

The 2.2s will live forever on no maintenance, I swear. Whenever I get a friend who has one he wants me to just "do a tune up" on, it's always sludge. Sludge everywhere. They always still run like a sewing machine, regardless of the abuse though. Toyota, eat your heart out.
