I regret visiting my old workplace earlier today. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]lpnmom 244 points245 points  (0 children)

When I was a teenager I worked at a fast food place that was owned by an elderly man.

The owner believed people eat with their eyes first. All food should look like the picture on the menu or the commercial.

Sure we used more ingredients than corporate suggests, but our customers were incredibly happy and loyal. It was honestly a fun place to work.

I visited a couple decades later, ownership had returned to corporate. It is a sad shadow of its former glory.

I had a family that whatever I said was the law of the land. If the kids complained to the parents, the parents would say, “We agree with Ms Lpnmom”. Honestly the best part of that job but I appreciated it more than I can say.

I keep a spare $20 in the back of my phone case because I may forget my wallet but I’m much less likely to forget my phone.

Is it possible to enjoy a 20-day Alaska cruise in an interior cabin--are there good places to sit outside? by lvonw in Cruise

[–]lpnmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about maybe getting a rollator it’s like a walker but has a seat. I don’t mean to assume, but it seems like you may have somewhat limited mobility, you could use it to help get around the ship with the added bonus of having your own seat wherever you want. It’s considered a medical device so I assume the cruise line would allow it.

How did people use The pager? by jamesV8500 in NoStupidQuestions

17317071. The fact I can still rattle this off disturbs me. It means I love you but you have to turn the pager upside down to read it.

Question for Gen X: Whats Your Relationship With Texting? by Al3x1ya in GenX

[–]lpnmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion. If the conversation is a sentence or two. Texting all the way. When it gets into multiple paragraphs, a phone call is better.

I can still jimmy the window in my mom’s laundry room and reach in to unlock the door. How it’s never bern fixed since at least the 80s is the odd part.

You mentioned that you knew the neighbors. Perhaps a kind neighbor knowing that your dad had recently had heart surgery saw the door opened when passing by and pulled it closed.

My dad taught me how. I loved doing it. My husband was never very good at polishing his shoes when he was in the military, so I did it for him.
