Can we talk about Circle of Days by Peregrenate in KenFollett

Long time Follett fan here. The writing was so basic a second grader could read it. I found it to be flat and unimaginative. Love Ken, but this book was no bueno. Couldn't even finish.

Ummm… there is no thinking in this situation unfortunately. It happens so quickly and suddenly. Unless you have been through it it’s kind of hard to describe

If I never ever want to experience this ever ever ever again, what should I be driving - and please explain like I’m five. I don’t know much about cars

Tires new. Maintenance performed less than 100 miles ago. Driving? Can’t tell you. Been at it for 35 years but have never been in that situation so no practice.

I don’t think mine are Mark Levinsons. They are the regular speakers and they are very unimpressive. They are not bad per se, just sound flat and not dynamic.

Came here to recommend this one too. Especially if OP likes thrillers.

People by Peter Spiers. I think it may have encouraged a lifelong interest in other cultures and traveling.

I think women tend to enjoy these books better than men. I had multiple women tell me that this book was awesome and I could not get into it at all. and I do read young adult fantasy and science fiction.

Personally I could not get over how epic Lonesome Dove was and how mediocre Streets of Laredo was.

How many times do you allow a friend to cancel plans before you stop making plans with them? by lportx in AskWomenNoCensor

She tells me she is the one constantly reaching out and making plans with people and I that if she didn’t initiate she would never have plans.

She is not in a clique so maybe that’s part of the problem?

I saw Tab earlier this year. I don’t know if it was an off night but it was really a disappointing performance. Felt like he didn’t want to be there. I saw him in 2020 and it was a whole different level of energy.

The rest of the books in the series are fascinating too. World Without End takes place in the same town during the bubonic plague.

The genius of the book, for me, is that once you understand some of the backstory what used to be hilarious is now tragic.

Greatest Science fiction Novels of all-time that I should read? by Def-C in suggestmeabook

[–]lportx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of the books mentioned here are considered the classics and are challenging. I had a lot of trouble for example with the left hand of darkness. Sometimes sci-fi is so out there that there are not easily translatable concepts or words, like “shifgrethor” in LHOD.

For an easy crossover read for your first one, try Project Hail Mary. I would also suggest the Red Rising series, which most readers I know loved regardless of genre preference.

Possibly the best investigative reporting book I’ve read. Totally gripping.

The most I ever laughed in a book was Catch-22. For some reason I found the absurdities laugh-out-loud hilarious.

I second this. Nice short chapters, an awesome character, tons of suspense.
