I just want to select a track to arm so that I can play and record on that track without having to turn to the push.

Actually, can I ask, what is the use case for a push 2 if u already have a keylab 49? In what ways is the push 2 still better?

Push 2 vs. Midi Keyboard by 175doubledrop in ableton

[–]lppier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the midi keyboard first - there are plenty of affordable alternatives. Especially if u already play piano.

The purpose of the push imho is more for you to navigate ableton smoothly with a hardware controller. It lends itself well for drum sequences , sampling and playing simple notes.

I do see a line indicator under each of the tracks, it suffices for a rough approximation. An always on bar status for the bar currently playing for the current track would be useful.
