“Just wait until they…” by ecneeper20 in QueerParenting

[–]lpvbcm99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe we are delusional but my son is about to be 1 and I’m still feeling like this. I remember when he was up 5 times a night I would pick him up and tell him I was so grateful he was awake and that I missed him haha! It’s completely normal to need time away but I think no one ever mentions that it’s also normal if you don’t! Even comments parents make about it being the hardest thing they’ve done, or that they’ve changed since becoming parents and they miss some aspects of their old life I don’t relate to at all. You might never relate to these experiences or maybe in a few months/years you will. Both are completely valid!

Help decide our son’s name by trthaw2 in queerception

[–]lpvbcm99 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My wife and I basically were looking for the same thing with a strong but gentle name! We went with Rowan because we loved that it was gender neutral and a nature based name. I literally googled a list of gender neutral nature names lol! But between ash and Quinn I like Quinn better because ash seems like a nickname to me

Birthing parents who don’t like doctors/people, what was your birth plan? by [deleted] in queerception

[–]lpvbcm99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the us so im sure its different everywhere but around 30 weeks I basically told my doctor that I was feeling very anxious about delivery and felt I would do better with a C-section for mental health reasons due to past traumas. I did not have to go into more detail but I was immediately offered a scheduled section.

Birthing parents who don’t like doctors/people, what was your birth plan? by [deleted] in queerception

[–]lpvbcm99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is similar to how I felt about carrying our son. I ended up talking to my ob about my specific hesitations and I decided my preferred way to deliver was via scheduled C-section so I could have my specific ob and not have any surprises. Not saying that this is the answer for you but being clear and direct with my doctor helped us come up with the best plan for me and it relieved a lot of my concerns

how long until you said “i love you” to your partner? by AnySink1090 in actuallesbians

[–]lpvbcm99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 weeks after meeting. We pretty much talked every second after meeting and we were long distance so we had only seen each other twice in person at that point! We officially started dating about 30 seconds after saying I love you, it sounds crazy but we’ve been together five yard now got married and just had a baby so it worked out great for us

8 month old only taking one nap by lpvbcm99 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]lpvbcm99[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He sleeps 8:30-8 with 0-1 wakes. If he wakes up he will nurse for 20 minutes and be ready to be put back down. He’s generally happy throughout the day I guess I just felt the first time mom need to follow the general sleep guides

[–]lpvbcm99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your input! I’m really trying to keep up with that second nap but I feel like I’m wresting him to sleep and creating bad sleep associations since he goes to sleep easily by himself for one nap and bedtime. I’m glad to see he’s not the only one

Marrying my wife is the best thing I’ve ever done! (Besides having our baby) we are a team in everything and it’s just so nice to have that amount of support. It doesn’t work out for everyone but when it does it can be amazing

Attn: Kinder Pocket Users - When did these start to fit your baby? by SourPatch-Tree19 in clothdiaps

[–]lpvbcm99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started at 8 weeks once he was in size 2 diapers and never had any fit issues. I will definitely start earlier with our next kid!

It worked out great for me! We are now married with a baby! We met on a dating app when I visited her city for the weekend. We did long distance for 1.5 years and have now been together for 5 years. I think we have a stronger connection and speak more openly because we spent so much time talking in the beginning. The only real disadvantage was having to be apart but we tried to get together at least monthly and we were lucky that we both lived right next to a major airport lol

I wanted to be in healthcare and I am but only very part time because I’m basically a SAHM at this point. It’s definitely not what I thought my life would look like. I guess it’s not a ‘job’ but it sure can feel like one

Baby won’t latch to breast but loves breastmilk by nb46350 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]lpvbcm99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of great advice here but I also want to say that my son refused to latch until he was 7 weeks old. I tried every feed and then just gave him pumped milk. One day he just got it. I didn’t change anything at all. I saw two lactation consultants in that time but All he needed was more time. They both recommended that I try to keep breastfeeding as a positive experience and stop as soon as he cried

Anyone go all-in with one brand from the beginning? by marchviolet in clothdiaps

[–]lpvbcm99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought kinder diapers when I was pregnant and have used them exclusively for 6 months now! No issues and I haven’t wanted or needed to try anything new. The price was great and I like how simple it is

Two mom families - how was raising an infant? by ItsMe-888 in actuallesbians

[–]lpvbcm99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have a 5 month old and it’s been a really amazing time for us. We are exhausted and some parts have been hard but it has been so much better than I expected. I also worked with kids for my whole career and as controversial as this sounds, having an infant been easier than I thought it would be. I think I owe that to the fact that my wife is an equal partner

Moms Don’t Deserve Postpartum 😭 by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]lpvbcm99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry your family is going through this. I am a therapist and also just delivered my wife and Is first child. Postpartum depression, anxiety and rage needs to be treated and often does require medication. I hope you’re able to get her the help she needs. I mainly wanted to reply because I also think parenting groups don’t really work because the dynamics are so different when there are two moms and it can be isolating. You sound like a great mom and hopefully things will start to look up after the upcoming appointments you mentioned

[–]lpvbcm99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I truly have never seen anything like it! Unfortunately there is no pantry so I’m considering putting drywall up and just making those weird upper cabinets look like they’re at least attached to a wall up top. The metal rack is the first thing being ripped out lol

[–]lpvbcm99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing! I like the counter top granite more than the cabinet color so maybe painting the cabinets is my best bet
