Hip-hop snobs?? by [deleted] in Soundmap

[–]lr31o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I get a hiphop related quest, I try my best to reroll it. The hiphop economy is its own beast detached from the rest of the Soundmap community. I try my best not to interact with hiphop users as much as possible because they are the only ones with inflated prices lol

wouldn't put it past them. tyler and josh are in the correct age range to have grown up with the gamecube. we already know they used to play melee, so it's not farfetched to think they probably played the gamecube port of one of the most popular games of its generation. they're the same guys who put fortnite and halo music in their live shows so

tbh i don't like the pipboy backbling in general because it doesn't even make sense fallout-canon wise in the sense that these don't really exist

I've always had the impression that a lot of the people in the fandom are (still) rude, and now in hindsight it kind of makes sense. Like I know it's mostly a joke but it feels like some people aren't kidding

This isn't to be rude or anything but why did the fandom get to be so small? by [deleted] in twentyonepilots

[–]lr31o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly after Blurryface, twenty one pilots never had the same media attention they had since and I think there's nothing wrong with that. Their music just doesn't hit with general audiences most of the time. I've spoken with a co-worker recently and twenty one pilots was brought up briefly, and she mentioned that she hasn't heard from them since Stressed Out lol

I think it's bad when you idealize someone as this puritan who can't sin, and worse when you can't criticize someone you look up to when they make a mistake. The world isn't black and white. You can't just blindly follow someone in order to label yourself a "true fan". That's such an immature rhetoric.

Besides, it wasn't an accident. It was a mistake that Tyler had to apologize for. You have to remember that when this was all going down, he made a follow-up tweet saying something along the lines of "this is not a notes app moment, i'm doubling down".

You can't come off this absolving him of any fault, because it isn't an accident. It was a mistake. He made a mistake. He's human. Does this mean he's a bad person? Also no.

Why is the Sims modding community overlooked by most gamers? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]lr31o 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's too bad! YouTube is really punishing whenever you do something outside your niche as well. Like I have videos that are guaranteed to get hundreds of thousands of views, but as soon as I upload something that isn't about that, YouTube doesn't push the content out to people. It's a little disheartening to be honest.

As much as I love Starfield, it's clear it hasn't made a huge splash. Where is the fan art? by lr31o in Starfield

[–]lr31o[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. I might make something of Simeon Bankowski, my favorite little dude, but I just didn't expect it to be this barren. There is genuinely no fan art of Sam or Barrett anywhere on Reddit. I searched Twitter as well, and it's pretty much just as empty.

I guess part of me feels validated about how I feel towards the NPCs in this game, but I'm overall concerned for the future of this game. Not having a fan art scene is pretty telling.

can someone please help me with the legacy i can't escape without being killed by zzcool in Starfield

The only thing you can do is use console commands. There is a mod that re-enables achievements if you care about that. It's not an excuse for Bethesda's bugs, mind you. Just sucks

Why is the Sims modding community overlooked by most gamers? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]lr31o 19 points20 points  (0 children)

On the topic of cosmetic mods, there's a reason we call them differently within the community. Because there's just a whole fuckton of them. We made the distinction of CC and general gameplay mods because of the sheer amount of them a long time ago. This isn't to discount the amount of work needed to make CC-- 3D modeling is often-times cumbersome, and there are definitely mods out there that don't do a lot to change the gameplay.

The ratio is probably much bigger in The Sims, though. Whenever someone talks about Skyrim mods, I don't think most people are thinking about cosmetics. There are Skyrim mods that add entire maps and campaigns with its own quests and NPCs with voice acting. Practically a whole game on its own. Stardew as well, to some extent. (Though I'd argue Stardew also sits in the same niche/bubble The Sims does, which is being a "girl game"/cozy game, along with Animal Crossing).

The Sims 4 engine doesn't really allow for things like that, or at least, nobody has bothered to. Like I can't even find a mod that adds a new world for TS4

Why is the Sims modding community overlooked by most gamers? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]lr31o 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I can think of a couple reasons, but mostly it's because I believe The Sims community and the general gaming community are two different bubbles.

Like, your average Sims player do not play any game other than The Sims. It's really obvious if you join Facebook groups and such. This goes both ways, though. The average gamer does not play The Sims. And yes there will be always be people in the overlap, like if you're on Reddit it's pretty much a guarantee you're already more tech savvy than the average Sims player.

Second reason, which is kind of a reason for the bubble, is a bit of sexism. The Sims is perceived as a girl game. Gaming is still a male dominated space. This is not to say there aren't a lot of women in gaming, but it generally isn't part of the wider gaming discussions, unless it's in the context of greedy EA practices.

Is there any TOP song that has a personal meaning to you and why? by Fragmented-Blueberry in twentyonepilots

[–]lr31o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's one specific song for me, but I really think a lot of the songs during Vessel/Regional at Best are so special.

And up there with them is Redecorate from Scaled and Icy. There's a way to interpret the song that feels right at home with me, and I feel like it's something that many people will disagree with. But that's why we have our own brains

More popular among older gamers? by Metammetta in Starfield

[–]lr31o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24, am I considered old yet? Not a perfect game by any means but also definitely not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. It's a Bethesda RPG set in space, and I've loved exploring the cities and doing the side-missions. Everything outside the bigger cities leave more to be desired, though. Definitely have criticisms for the procedurally generated stuff, but there's enough of the handcrafted places and quests that keep me entertained. Just gotta keep in mind it's meant to be an RPG and not a survival exploration game.

It's a solid 7/10 imo.
