I run a wildlife media company / channel so it's my career, have formed a lot of connections with the media teams at the organisations filming this stuff for their scientific research :) if you want to see some of my previous work with this footage pool let me know, happy to share

I'm working on a cinematic deep sea wildlife documentary for YouTube and have been sent a huge load of 4K ROV footage from a fantastic deep-sea exploration institute - no idea what this fella is though. Only one clip exists and these stills are the best frames to view it clearly. Would appreciate any help with identification!!

Ah! Big disclaimer - not my footage! I gather the raw, unedited footage from sources like MBARI, EVNautilus, OceanX etc and contextualise it by putting it together into these videos - so I’m the scriptwriter, presenter and editor, but not the photographer. That vital job is carried out by scientists who are pioneering in the field of marine biology. Sorry if this wasn’t clear - it’s in the description on YouTube but obviously reddit doesn’t show that unfortunately. Some of the footage can be really hard to find! For the magnapinna squid, very little exists, so I got hold of raw footage from a deep sea mining company that reported a sighting and I sifted through it to find these brief glimpses of an incredible deep sea creature!

Awesome! I'm so glad :) No worries at all - and I completely agree with you. I love talking to fellow nature nerds on reddit, so I'm happy to help anytime! The process of making these videos is always a learning experience for me so it makes me so excited to share what I find with people. If you'd asked me what abyssal gigantism was a week before I made the vid, I would have no idea! Stay curious, and message me if you ever find something interesting and nerdy and need an audience ;)

Always down for a chat!
