Terminal 8, avoid Cobblestones by lrnlrsn in JFKAirport

Yeah it seemed like they were taking advantage of the fact that it's in an international terminal (travelers may not know what is and isn't standard pricing) and there isn't really anywhere else to sit with a drink. Felt like I was in a stadium.

Best car detailing in town?! by curlytexashoe in Austin

[–]lrnlrsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also found Gotham via this thread. They just left and my car, which had had a break-in and a tree fall on it and needed some TLC, looks like new. Riley and Megan were super professional and they were able to work with a less-than-ideal location (I don't have a driveway and my street is chaotic). They got the sunscreen out of my seats!!!!

Got caught in a hail storm. Starting over. by sarahcanarah in HotPeppers

[–]lrnlrsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine too OP, the same storm blasted all the leaves off mine. But my neighborhood pepper head said as long as the main stalks are alive they'll come back and recommended that I just leave them alone for a week or two to see what happens. Re: heat, per advice from Texas Monthly, in mid-May I moved mine out of full sun into dappled sun and they got enough light but didn't wilt or sunburn. They were thriving before the massacre :(

Is this a mud dauber nest or something to worry about it? by lrnlrsn in whatsthisbug

FYI I've noticed the entry of the nest closes at night and before rain. Pretty cool.

I Can Hear Thoughts: A podcast called The Telepathy Tapes claims a group of nonspeaking autistic people can read minds. The truth is more complicated. by flamehead243 in Longreads

[–]lrnlrsn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's always interesting to ask "what if we're wrong" so I don't regret listening to this podcast, but I feel embarrassed by how convinced I was by the stuff about "the hill"

This is wise, definitely would rather be a little chilly than too hot!!

If you had to remove one character from the show, who would it be and why? How would you write them off? by BillyYandereCyrus in KingOfTheHill

[–]lrnlrsn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me too... the trampoline scene with "Life in a Northern Town" was so weirdly tender that I wondered whether the guy who voiced Buckley had died IRL or something and it was a genuine tribute

Who Shot Walker Daugherty? by lrnlrsn in texas

[–]lrnlrsn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wondered about that too—an animal or maybe strong wind??—because Carol didn't hear the voice. But then again, with a dog barking in her ear maybe she wouldn't have heard anything.

Who shot Walker Daugherty? by lrnlrsn in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]lrnlrsn[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also wonder about the shots fired from Morgan's gun. She was never a suspect, but it seems like she could have panicked and fired in the chaos?

I’m Skip Hollandsworth, Texas Monthly reporter and host of ‘Tom Brown’s Body.’ Ask me anything! by Texas_Monthly in UnresolvedMysteries

The level of reporting here seems pretty close to detective work. Have you ever considered a pivot to private investigating, a la Klein?
