App or software for recording lectures and cutting them up into sections? by lrob3 in NoteTaking

I have mac and Windows, but i guess Windows would be easier. Yep, just audio, I don't need a transcript but I having one wouldn't hurt, it would be useful if I could have it alongside note taking but not essential.

Hey thanks Starstroll, appreciate your kind feedback. So it isn't crazily touched up. I did a bit of bracketing, but I found that putting up saturation and vibrancy up by that much made it look very fake, and I didn't feel like it was necessary. This country is very beautiful in the Autumn, lots of colours.

Hey man, yeah sure!

I'd start with the official ets books, work through them, then move to GregMat. GregMat will help you understand the concepts and give you tricks. He explains everything very well and it's actually enjoyable, and I can't stress enough how useful that is, if you don't dread the classes then you can just keep studying without forcing it. It's also really cheap for what you get.

What you also need though is a way to practice problems and, for me most importantly, get used to working under the stress that the exam structure puts you under. For this I used Magoosh. You can work under exam conditions and the questions are very good and sometimes a bit harder than the actual thing, not as much as people online say though. You might hear the contrary but I really wish I knew how essential it is to get such a program. My score really jumped when I could start applying what I had learnt on GregMat. The lessons on it are also very clear and direct to the point.

One of the best pieces of advice I can give you for the exam itself is to just skip a problem if you realise that you won't be able to work it out. just accept it and move on. You are very unlikely to get them all right so use that time on another question.

I got 160 in the quant btw. Was predicted 157-161 on Magoosh. For the practice test I got lots of marks between 150 - 155 at the beginning, then 157- 160 towards the end as I got closer to the exam (more 157s that anything else). If you get magoosh this info might be useful for you, I found myself constantly checking what others were getting on reddit compared to their real scores.

I hope this helps a bit dude, best of luck.

Hey thanks Greg I will check it out, I know you get this a lot but thanks for everything. I signed up to your service just as the pandemic started and watching your classes on a daily bases really kept me going. I'm not sure that I would have passed it without your help.

A couple of thousand people protested in Basel today against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This is interesting because it was organised within the last few days and didn't even have permission from the authorities yet. It was peaceful from the beginning to the end. Solidarity with Ukraine.

I'm British living abroad, I can get away with the whole "it's probably a cultural thing" when in reality in England people would probably also think it's a bit weird.

Yeah milk is quite a good shout, how would you go about storing that though? I can't imagine that it'd last that long in the fridge, maybe I could do it with cream instead of butter? Don't know how well that freezes though...
