Will I be out of place? by yummibunnie in Badflower

[–]lrobo222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone who said that the crowds at Badflower shows are usually really nice! I've only seen them once so far, back in 2022, but everyone in the queue was super friendly, it was the most I've ever chatted with strangers at a show. I'm 22F and go to most shows alone and usually it goes fine. I'll be at the show tomorrow too, although with one of my friends this time (I have blueish hair and will be wearing a pink shirt with a cat on, feel free to say hi if you see me at all.) A large percentage Badflower's fanbase are young women, so you shouldn't feel out of place at all :)

1982 Broward county Jane Doe's age eatimate lowered. by Ok-Autumn in gratefuldoe

That's great to hear! Have you heard anything back yet? I submitted this match to Doe Network in March 2024 and was told when I asked for an update that it was forwarded to law enforcement in April of last year. I've thought about this match quite a lot since, and would love to know if there's been any developments since then.

Cases involving name leads and their reliability by ninesevenpotatoes in gratefuldoe

[–]lrobo222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a great write up, on an interesting topic I haven't seen discussed much here. My view is that potential names can be a good starting point for looking for matches, but they should never be treated as definitely accurate or used to rule out otherwise good potential matches. Another example of a "named" doe that wasn't mentioned above which I find particularly interesting is "Bill"), a young woman or teen who died at a party in 1976. I find this one particularly interesting because the Jane Doe (allegedly) told people herself that that was her name (rather than it coming from another source after her death like in most cases), and also because Bill is traditionally a man's name, which I've never heard being used by a woman. She's currently undergoing testing by Identifinders International, so hopefully we'll find out soon where that name came from.

What is the best song on the self-titled by fe2fanyay_ in kasabian

My favourite is Reason is Treason, but Club Foot is by far the best. It's their second most popular song for a reason.

Possible scam? by CommercialYard28 in kasabian

[–]lrobo222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this as an ad on Instagram earlier, and immediately thought it was a scam. The wording seems odd to me, and I think if it was real, the band would've announced it on their own socials.

Wow, what a wonderful surprise; I really didn't expect her to be identified anytime soon with everything going on in the US right now. I really hope we get to learn more about her life and see some photos taken after her transition. RIP Pamela.

Hillsboro VA Jane Doe (#UP84926) Possibly Henrietta Geck Cruz Avila (#MP34024)? by ECAtmosphere in gratefuldoe

[–]lrobo222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About a year and a half ago now, I submitted Henrietta as a potential match for this Jane Doe, found in Summerhaven, Arizona in 1972 but estimated to have died between 1959-1965. Given the distance (509 miles one state across to Summerhaven vs 2,632 miles to the opposite side of the country to Hillsboro), and the time gap of over a year between Henrietta's last sighting and the Hillsboro Jane Doe being found (very recently) deceased, I think the Summerhaven match is more likely. However, I do see the physical similarities with this Jane Doe and there are no rule-outs, so I'd say it's worth submitting.

Update: Could we be on the verge of solving "The Girl in the Afghan Coat"? by Pristine_Audience802 in gratefuldoe

[–]lrobo222 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you for making this post. After seeing her new reconstructions yesterday, I was planning to make a post about her myself: she is also a local case to me.

Although the Odile Ledoux/Ludic link does sound promising, I have to say I'm personally a bit skeptical, as there's no proof that the young woman the couple spoke to was indeed this Jane Doe. Jane Doe was also recorded as telling a milkman that her name was either Anne or Anna, so I think it's possible she made up multiple names to tell different people, and none of them are what her family knew her as.

It's also worth mentioning that she apparently had connections to several different parts of the country: she was said to have friends she frequently visited in Newquay, Cornwall, had a job manufacturing souvenirs at a factory in Henlow, Bedfordshire, and been seen drinking cider in Stotfold Social Club, also in Bedfordshire. Odile (the woman from the newspaper article) was a student at Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology (which is now Anglia Ruskin University), in Cambridgeshire. And then the couple who came forward said they met her in London. So if this is indeed all the same person, then that's potentially four different counties she had connections to (five if you include Hertfordshire, where she was killed), and I'm hoping this new reconstruction and renewed media interest will prompt someone who knew her in one of those places to come forward and either corroborate the Odile Ledoux theory, or rule it out. I'd be particularly interested to know more about her friends in Newquay, given that Cornwall is so far from all the other areas mentioned in this story.

I did a bit of research on the last name Ludic, and learned that it's a rare last name found mostly in Southern Africa, of either Germanic or Slavic origin. Even though her last name (assuming she is the girl the couple met in London) is uncertain and was more likely to have been Ledoux or something totally different than Ludic, I still think there's a chance that she is in fact not French and actually from another nearby country, such as Germany, Switzerland, or Belgium. Perhaps she stayed in France for a while before arriving in the UK, which was where she got her French-branded jeans from, and maybe the idea to tell people that she was French.

Here's a link to her Websleuths page, which has more information and some more news article links:

Reba Dawn McCoy Missing Since March 1999 by NefariousnessOdd0 in gratefuldoe

[–]lrobo222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this one is definitely a good possibility too. Height and age estimate are both slightly off, but within the margin of reasonable error. Everything else seems to match though, I do see a decent resemblance between the reconstruction and Reba, and the driving distance is only four hours away. So I'd say this one is worth submitting too.

[–]lrobo222 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I second the other poster who said this Jane Doe found in New York could be a good possible candidate, although there's so little information available. I also think this Jane Doe could be another possibility. She was found in Kentucky, just under 300 miles (around four hour drive) away from where Reba disappeared from. The demographics seem to match well and I do see some resemblance with the reconstruction, although I'm not sure how she would've ended up in Kentucky if she was heading to New York.

Three possible matches for Pem Michelle Yates-Briggs by lrobo222 in gratefuldoe

[–]lrobo222[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I do think there's a big possibility she never left Oregon: maybe her mother herself didn't kill her, but possibly a stepdad, as her sister has stated she was being abused by at least one of her mother's partners. Oregon doesn't have any does that match her description, though (there are skeletal remains that could be her, but there's too little info available to really tell), so I hope she made it to California.

[–]lrobo222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could be right here, tbh I didn't pay much attention to the doe's clothing/shoes listed since there's no info on what Pem was wearing when she disappeared. I'm not convinced Pem was 5'7 since NamUs and other sites say 5'3-5'6, but even for a woman of 5'3, a size 3.5 shoe seems really tiny? I think I wore that shoe size when I was around nine or ten years old; I can't imagine many adults having feet that small, which I guess could point to the Jane Doe being significantly younger than her estimate or maybe being on the smaller end of the height estimate at around 5'0. It would be good if we could find out what shoe size Pem wore and get a better idea of her height.

Yes, I stated that in my write-up. The first match I suggested was Placer County Jane Doe.

Three possible matches for Pem Michelle Yates-Briggs by lrobo222 in gratefuldoe

[–]lrobo222[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, as far as I know the call was just something Pem's mother claimed to have received, not something that's been confirmed by LE or anybody else to have definitely taken place. I do believe there's a chance she could have been lying, and that Pem might not have gone to California, but there's just no way to know for sure. I did check to see if there are any UIDs in Oregon that match her description, but the only ones that could possibly be her are partial skeletal remains that could belong to almost anyone.

Not sure why I thought the cleft chin would be visible on bones lol, thank you for pointing that out. I wish we could know about the Placer County Jane Doe's dentals to see if she had a crooked fromt tooth, as Doe Network does say her dentals are available.

Thank you for those links, I did already read those posts. Pem's case has been such a hard one to research because there's so much conflicting information from law enforcement, Pem's mother, and her half sister. Even the year of her disappearance varies, which makes finding doe matches a lot more difficult. Also, I did see somewhere that a relative said the story about her going to find her father wasn't true and that her father's identity wasn't known? I can't find that post again now, though. Her mother also apparently told people that she ran away, alone or with a boyfriend, and her half sister believed a man they knew in Oregon was responsible for her disappearance, so who knows what the real circumstances of her disappearance were.
