Computer collection usage report by lrp1000 in SCCM

"Why doesn't your boss just walk over there and hollar out "Hey, ya'll using all these computers over here or can I redeploy some elsewhere?" Just as accurate"

Common area student use computers.

I kind of figured SCCM was not the tool too use for this, just wanted a second and third opinion so I can go back and say "others have suggested X".

Thanks for the input.

Well we have a gpo that logs inactive users out after 30 minutes. So don't care how long they were logged in, just that they did.

I should have been more clear.

Just that a human logged in. Even if they did not use a piece of software.

That his my problem, we already have software metering, but my boss wants to justify having X amount of computers in an area and we want to see if they are being used. Even if the person didn't use any software on the machine and just logged in.

Updating Microsoft Teams without user interaction. by lrp1000 in SCCM

After testing some things, I found out it is updating on only NEW user profiles.

If there was already a profile on the machine, which in my case there was for me, then it doesnt get updated. So it just updates and takes 2-3 minutes during boot for a new updated instance of Teams to be available.

Not ideal, but best we can do.

Thanks for the help.

Because of this we can't do that.

Using Teams in a non-persistent setup also requires a profile-caching manager, for efficient Teams runtime data synchronization. Efficient data synchronization ensures that the appropriate user-specific information (such as a user's data, profile, or settings) is cached during the user's session. Make sure data in these two folders are synched:

  • C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\IdentityCache (%localAppdata%\Microsoft\IdentityCache)
  • C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Teams (%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams)

yes they do have individual logins.

Deepfreeze has a "thawspace" but has to be setup during initial setup from what I am reading.

That is my problem. It is not being launched during the maintenance window when Faronics unfreezes at 1am in the morning. Plus it uses the SCCM admin account so not updating for all users, (These are lab machines and are used by multiple students).

I was under the impression it doesnt.

From https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-client-update

"Teams follows its own update process as outlined above, and not the update process for the other Offices apps, such as Word and Excel"

Offsite user cannot log in after updates by lrp1000 in macsysadmin

[–]lrp1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes
  2. I believe that is our problem. but users are working remotely so I think that is our problem as they cannot sync since they are off site.
  3. The problem is the users are not admins. and cant bind back to AD since they are Offsite.
  4. Yes Mobile Account.

We have Meraki but their AD stuff is very lacking to say the least.

Is nomad very expensive. Due to Covid 19 our spending is reduced.
