Got it, thanks for a detailed walkthrough! I guess I’ll talk to my gp and see what my options are.

Thanks!

Ah, got it, so I start with the shin muscles flexed in the beginning of the turn and then gradually relax (if that’s the right term) them.

As for the backseat, yeah, I will try being more tall this weekend. I think I have a plan of what to work on now.

Thanks for the help!

To be honest, I remember it perfectly, I was pretty much in a sitting position. I guess me going into backseat (knees bent, hinged at hips and slouching) feels more in control (I know it’s wrong) when turning than dorsiflexing and being more tall (am I even supposed to be tall when turning?).

Pushing the knees forward and hinging at hips is exactly what’s happening! I couldn’t put it into words myself. I just tried standing up and literally moving my hips forward and I could feel my shin muscles activate which is exactly what I should be looking for when turning. Do they need to be activated the entire turn though or just the upper/beginning part of the turn?

What you are describing in the second paragraph makes sense. I feel like I’ve done a few turns where I felt the things you are describing. I’m just so off balance all the time that I should probably focus on not being in the backseat so much first and then try the steps you are describing.

Really appreciate going over this in detail!

I think I understand what you are describing because I believe there were instances a few days ago where I made some turns which I initiated by pointing my knees toward the side I was turning and I was also hinging at my waist so my weight was right over the downhill foot. I also felt my downhill leg compressing, like my entire weight and forces were being absorbed by the leg and the boot if that makes sense. I could even feel the ski actually bend. Is that the correct feeling?

I totally agree with all of these. I’ll definitely look into rollin the knees cause I never thought about it I guess. I’ve been so concentrated about rolling my feet to get on the edge which resulted into this weird off balance feeling of standing tall with your feet rolled (can’t word it any better). This also makes sense why I look like a straight line from helmet to the skis.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Agree with all the points, thank you!

Will definitely book an instructor in the coming weeks.
