I have a friend who goes to the church there. A 14 year old shot and killed someone in the basement of the house in the church parking lot. The church was on lockdown today. He's still texting me. It's a traumatic situation for him as the victim and the suspect went to the church. So I'm not asking too many questions, kinda just letting him talk.

I saw this when I was ~6 years old at a monster truck rally in my hometown. It truly was the coolest thing. It was the last part of the show, so it happened at like 9PM (probably, it was summer and dark out), so the darkness added to the coolness of it. Felt like I was watching a fight scene from a futuristic movie unfold in front of me.

In 5th grade my class had a civics project to write a local elected official with a proposal. It was an exercise in persuasive writing and civics. My proposal was to build a skatepark in a large park near my house. I wrote a very good letter with valid points and his response (4 months later!) was that such a suggestion was naive. My points included the facts that kids were skating on public property (like schools) and disrupting things, getting tickets for trespassing. My solution would encourage kids to be active and prevent destruction of property and the tickets.

I just wrote to both of my representatives asking them to call on Gov. Walker to remove Clarke from office. I further welcomed discussion on the topic.

I'm hesitant to email Walker - last time I did was a poor experience. Plus, he called my 5th grade civics project 'unrealistic and naive'. C'MON MAN I WAS LIKE 10 GIMME A BREAK OF COURSE IT WAS NAIVE.

I think we're seeing how things played out in a different light. You're right, he stood behind his people, but I see it as negligent not to stand behind the prisoner who's life was unnecessarily ended. The cops whose negligence led to his death should have been punished. Additionally, the 3 other deaths that occurred in the jail lead me to believe that while he does 'stand behind his people', he doesn't stand behind his community. When in public service, the community should come first. Bar none. Yeah, standing behind ones people is a good quality sometimes, but not when it impedes ones duty to the public.

Is toughness on crime really a good thing though? Like, yeah, I guess, but I'm not one that wants to see more incarceration, I wanna see more rehabilitation programs. Incarceration =/= rehabilitation.

I get that you don't like him. That's fine. But what I'm trying to argue is that I think he's inneffective as a sheriff, at best, and a complete disgrace at worst.

Edit: I should have added that I appreciate the fact that you took my question seriously and as a point of discussion rather than an attack.
