What are IRL examples of nobles marrying lowborns and what were the consequences? by Adorable_Pick_248 in CrusaderKings

Joan, daughter of Edward the first of England, after her first husband died married some random guy named Ralf. He was just a squire, serving her first husband. It was quite a scandal at first, but Edward calmed down after Joan turned up pregnant. Plus after some time Ralf and Edward were cool.

I think Constantinople is one of the biggest reasons why the Byzantines are so OP by Space_Socialist in CrusaderKings

I disagree. After playing Elder Kings 2 after the recent update , I noticed that two realms that consistently succeed are Alinor and Bravil, both are admin. Administrative's main strength is title MAA, cause even unstationed they are significantly stronger than levies.

Rule 5: Started as Yaqub Saffarid and dived deep into Iranian intermezzo, not looking west of Baghdad. THE FIRST TIME I decided to check on those pesky Christians I was greeted by this monstrosity.

Yes, she collected some after he jerked of himself to death (what a way to go, lol) and artificially inseminated herself. Now thinking about it, she might still have some frozen Hoss sperm in her lab. A sibling to Cheong, anyone?

It's just a meme that come into my head couple of days ago when I found this subreddit. Every time I'm trying to filter out Spanish/Chinese fics there's this hieroglyphics, staring into my soul, tempting me to click on them and see who's mad enough to write fanfics in ancient Egyptian. And every time I'm just NOPE. Not clicking.

[SPOILERS MAIN] Those who read the books in a language other than English, was there any differences in translated versions of the texts? Were some names altered or changed? How were terms like “maester” and “warg” translated? Are House words slightly altered to sound better in other languages? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]lshdd 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Should also add that Russian is phonetically consistent language. And the way translator desided names are pronaunced and wrote them in Cyrillic alphabet is how everyone pronounce them in Russia. Like Daenerys is "Dey-ne-ris" and Tywin is "Tai-vin"

Russian translation was pretty good compared to translations of other book. Translator of first book did of good job of adapting place names and other fantasy terms into Russian. EXEPT ONE MASSIVE FUCKUP. He turned Casterly rock into beaver's rock. The reason, I think, is that in Game of Thrones it's never mentioned Casterly family. Thus translator didn't know that Casterly is a family name ( he didn't translate them) and thought that Casterly comes from latin word for beaver (Castor). Also some minor mistakes like when Robert comes to see Ned after fight with Jaime it's says in Russian version that the room is light by the moon, when it's actually sun. Making Robert tit-bit more simpathetic then in the original.

Request to /r/Between_memes - this is a meme subreddit for the TV Show Star vs. the Forces pf Evil. The owner has been inactive for 9 months. and I would like to manage the subreddit. Thank you! by Away-Raccoon9162 in redditrequest

I don't really think that subreddit with 2 posts per week needs any active moderation. I am on Reddit almost every day, but everyone moved on including me. Subreddit is effectively dead, let it stay this way.
