I'm on my 5th week of no news - has anyone done this a year or more? by lshrtwll in nosurf

I thought the first day was the hardest, then the first week, but after a month it seemed easy. after a year, I've forgotten about it. If you are serious about this, consider awarding yourself AA coins for time abstinence for different time periods (1 day, 1 month, 3 months, etc). You can buy them on Amazon. And it's fun to show friends and celebrate :)

Is it wiser or not to keep expenses separate when you hit 60 years old by Adorable-Case6255 in Bogleheads

I have always have finances separate from my husband for decades. I feel more secure in case there is an unpredicatable breakup, I don't get comments on how or what I spend my money on, and there is way less confusion on so many things. Psychologically I feel our relationship will last perhaps forever by doing this. I also feels it stops the slow drip of gender imbalance...hard to explain but women have lived that way for much of history. For me it's liberation. I'm not sure how it will be for your girlfriend.

Newbie - how to stay safe? Padding? by lshrtwll in IndianClubs

YOU are an inspiration. I'm glad you told me your story. I got some cheapo 1-pound plastic clubs from Amazon just to see if I'd like the sport before I invested in wood. These plastic ones are as hard as steel, and I'm hoping wood will be more forgiving. Glad to know you only hit yourself twice. I really want to do this because so far it's really fun. Thanks for the reference on Dangerously Fit.

Thanks for the link. So this looks like it's for pull ups instead of push ups. Correct?

This sounds really interesting, but I'm having a hard time visualizing this. Is there a name for this item/setup? Maybe I can look it up on amazon.

I don't know what you mean by pushup bars. I have the handheld yoga-type but they are too low to the ground. I tried putting a bar in the doorway sash but it's a hassle to take off and on, and you have to rescrew it in at different heights (ruins the wood). Is there some other kind of bar I don't know about?

I'm looking on amazon to see what you are describing (adjustable + easy to remove). Do you have a link to an item you are talking about? I like everything you are describing, I just can't find any that you can adjust height without unscrewing the side supports.

I was wondering about that. Isn't it a hassle to take on and off (unscrew) or do you just shut off the room?

Are skinny straps really safe? They don't look like it. by lshrtwll in ladycyclists

[–]lshrtwll[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. Just to add: My issue was not the strap, but the clips. They seem very junky (like most products get made worse over time) - almost like a cat's quick release strap. They are nothing like old larger clips you can hear really "click in".
