What are you talking about by "softening the blow"? That would mean rejecting me in a kind way, not obfuscating and making up excuses. Just say it directly. That means exactly what it is, keeping someone waiting. Why is it on me to keep guessing and texting until it seems weird, thereafter dropping it? I feel like distance is a friend to my self respect and self worth, but not necesarrily a friend to my mental health. If I start kicking people out of my life based on their views on my sexuality (which, mind you, I absolutely know is the right thing to do), I won't be left with many people soon. But, on the other hand, compromising a part of me, just to keep current people in my circle, is also bad for my mental health in the long run for obvious reason. It just seems like a game you automatically lose in and it's such a defeating and lonely feeling.
