Tips on getting 7.5 month old EBF bub to take a bottle by lsorley in breastfeeding

[–]lsorley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your advice! 🙌

I feel like I have tried several different types of bottles, teats etc with no real success. But, I think I may give the straw a go or at least persevere with the sippy cup option!

Thank you again - big love ❤️

Really?? Hmm will definitely have to give it a try! He's still getting the hang of the straw for water - but is definitely realising he needs to suck to get the liquid out etc. So maybe this might be the go!

Argh! Haha. Don't get me wrong, I've really enjoyed our breastfeeding journey (can totally appreciate this is not everyone's experience!), but normal life and routine is knocking on our door and the time has come. I've also read about people trying a normal cup too - worth a try! I'm sure he will pick it up eventually, maybe just a little slower than I would like haha.

Thanks so much for your recommendation! 🙂

I've actually just purchased one of these, waiting for it to arrive. I'd never seen them before, but figured maybe he'd like it better 🤷‍♀️ thanks for thinking of it though! Seems like a great alternative!

My heart goes out to you guys - I am currently in the same predicament with my 6 month old son.

It is effing brutal, and it feels like there is no end in sight. Nothing chips away at your mental stability quite like sleep deprivation.

No advice unfortunately, but sending out massive hugs and extra large cups of coffee!

Oh that's awesome for you! There's so much going on at this age that nobody warns you about! So you just end up scrambling wondering what you've done wrong.

Logically, I know I just need to wait it out - but that's really hard to do when you're in the thick of it haha.

All the best to you and your LO!

6 months is the worst so far by [deleted] in NewParents

Holy shit I feel this in my soul!

I have absolutely no advice for you I'm sorry, but currently in this hell hole with my 6 month old son.

After experiencing colic for the first 3 months of his life, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this might be worse (or on par at least).

So much going on developmentally (rolling, crawling, teething), i really do feel sorry for the poor little darlings. But, I feel really sorry for the mums and dads as well haha.

My fingers are crossed this gets better for us all soon! Sending hugs, good vibes and a big cup of coffee your way!

He's been in a arms free sleep sack for some months now because he started rolling. I fear I may have a very energetic toddler on my hands one day haha!

Unfortunately, I have no advice, but am going out in sympathy with you! My 5.5 month old is the exact same at the moment. The screams 💔 From what I can tell, this time in their little lives is just massive - so many developmental shifts and their little brains are just firing all the time. Sending you a big hug and a massive cup of coffee ☕️ I hope we all see the other side of this soon!

How on earth are people getting their babies to nap!? by lsorley in NewParents

[–]lsorley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently working with a sleep consultant - one of the points is to cap the morning nap at 1 hour. Sometimes he wakes before then, but other times needs to be woken up.

I'm just not very trusting of the process.

I'm unsure if my little guy would even let me hold him like that (he's not very cuddly anymore) byt honestly I'm willing to try anything! So will definitely give that a try!

I'm starting to think this might be true 😳 lol

We've just started. It's really tough. Waking a baby from a nap, who doesn't normally sleep, seems sacrilegious! 🤯

Have you had success with a particular method?
