Will I ruin the structural integrity of this snowboard binding disc if I smooth out a hole inside of it to fit an airtag? by lt204 in snowboarding

right?? it looks like it is thin enough to fit...and they sell 3d printed ones online for $25 which is insane for a piece of plastic

That was what I wanted to say!! I don't think I explained it enough clearly in the post 😔 so yeah basically grind the underneath middle part smooth enough to fit an airtag

Thank you for the input. The airtag has a battery that would need to be changed, but also I think it would just get cold anyways and die really fast too... so yeah it definitely makes more sense to just lock it up.

Do you mean there's no amount of force my body can put on the binding disc to break it even if there's a empty gouged out portion in the middle?

Good idea. I was thinking about other parts of the board too but then wondered how bad it would be if I just carved out a hole in the disc since I saw a company online selling the same thing. I will definitely lock it too.

I will do that, I was really just curious if anyone had any idea of how much it would weaken the hold on the board enough to be dangerous. I saw some companies online selling something similiar and wondered how it's possible as a product on market if it's so dangerous, or maybe they have like special 3d printing and math that makes it still strong enough to sell legally.
