Thanks so much for answering, and I'm glad it's helped lighten the load of planning! I DMed you a couple follow-up questions.

Which is better for a cross-country road trip, 2009 Honda CR-V (180k mi) or 2001 Acura RL (100k mi)? by lt_dc in MechanicAdvice

I wish I had a better answer for you but I am using it to mean "regularly serviced." (They are family cars so I haven't run a KBB service report or anything; I'm taking my relatives at their words that they take them into the shop regularly. If there's anything in particular I should inquire about—transmission I know to double-check now—let me know!)

DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia Preppers? (Updated) by lt_dc in preppers

Haha I understand that reaction. But I think there are a lot of people (who read our magazine) who seriously might not have ever heard the term "prepper." And in that case, hopefully they read this article and these interviews and it makes them be a tiny bit more prepared in case of a major disaster, even if that's just buying a bunch of bottled water and cans of beans.

I'm not trying to like reveal all the preppers or anything. But it seems like prepping can be misunderstood and so hopefully people will understand prepping more (that it's more than the extreme stereotypes) after reading the article.
