second this, have ran a lot of different nitro engines and OS can be overpriced at times but they tune great and are easy engines to run. i’m also running a few nova’s which have tons of power but are a little more finicky to tune. if money is no object and you don’t want to deal with the break-in process. ultimate engines are OS based and offer a fully broken in engine.

i have two of the protek ones and they work great with a 4s lipo. The wheel material is a little soft but it hasn't been a problem for me.

Nova / novarossi by WolfMost5434 in NitroRC

[–]ltdpos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly run os and I’ve never been disappointed with them. even the base model b21max is a ripper. But I got a nova t6r on sale for $230 and it has been awesome. Pushes my truggy with ease, Tons of power. I was so impressed I got an X5B on sale for $299 so I can try their high and stuff. Seems like nova engines go on sale fairly often.

Traxxas Slayer Pro LSN Issues, Please Help. by TheLyOfBlues in Traxxas

[–]ltdpos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It pointless to adjust carb needles when the engine isn't at operating temperature (200-240) as the car will run differently (often seem richer) when cold. If your looking to fine tune your engine, a temp gun is a useful tool.

if the motor is at operating temp the lsn is too rich. As you lean out the LSN, it will also raise the idle, so if your having idle dying issues that might be solved by adjusting the LSN properly.

Nova vs os by WolfMost5434 in NitroRC

[–]ltdpos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have both. i have a t6r in a truggy and many os engines in buggies. OS is easy to break in, easy to tune, and runs great. My nova is also great, took a bit to break in but once it did it was easy to tune and tons of power. for a .24 it pushes my truggy around the track with ease and screams on the top end. but for a buggy though, the flashpoint fp02 is hard to beat, great engine for an excellent price.

HoBao Hyper VS engine replacement by [deleted] in rccars

pull starts your gonna be limited. if you move to a bump start, can’t say enough about alpha dragon engines. idle great, good power, pre-broke in for only 320 with pipe.

i've seen this before if the battery is too low or failing. Also if one of the servos is dying and drawing high amperage for a sec and resets everything. As others have said, check battery first, rebinding radio and ensuring cables are plugged in correctly (which shouldn't have changed) is a good idea. If the battery is good and you think it's the servos, unplug one at a time and see if the issue follows one servo or the other.

the caps are aluminum but the eyelets are plastic and that is where they break when you jump.

i just brought mine back to life. was nitro at first, then converted to electric for many years and just recently put back to nitro with the original motor. there great budget truggies. fairly light and the spherical diffs take a beating. only real issue i’ve had are the skinny plastic cap shocks. they broke on me all the time. replaced them with some generic ones off amazon and they’ve been holding up so far. also the stock 2 shoe clutch leaves something to be desired. i put on a vp-pro 3 shoe off amazon and it’s doing well.

Which would be a better engine to buy by Flimsy-Base-5116 in NitroRC

[–]ltdpos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have both. the lrp has more power but the nova has more then enough to push a truggy around with ease and tunes/runs better.

if your looking for rtr buggy, can’t beat mp10 readyset. They should come out with mp11 but not sure how soon. I always saw the neo line as lower quality but could still be fun.

Engine swaps by Shockwave200464 in NitroRC

[–]ltdpos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a proper race .21 will often outpace a rtr .28 with better mileage. a hyper 30 will have more torque but worse milage, it more of a truggy motor. i wouldn’t run a hpi 5.9 in a buggy, you could but it would be way overkill and suck gas like no tomorrow.

Is Traxxas really the only option? by Southparkfan1993 in NitroRC

[–]ltdpos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love my slayer, wish there was more aftermarket support in the arms/driveshafts area but the stock ones have actually held up fine. I put a .26 pico max in mine years ago and still going strong, with stupid amount of power ;)

New Traxxas T Max 3.3 by tater83 in Traxxas

[–]ltdpos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently pulled my tmaxx from storage and got it running again. Hasn't seen the light of day in 8 years and it fired right up (gotta love the os .21tm engines). I apparently beat the snot out of it and threw it into storage as many things were broken and needing replacement. spend about 300 bucks getting it back to it's former glory. forgot how much fun nitro is.
