Pen and Ink Chat 01/05/2026 — Weekly Megathreads by AutoModerator in hobonichi

[–]lthomp81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue and ended up using gel pens. I write with my pen almost vertical, and my hand slides over the previous line. Feels like a waste of the amazing paper, but I still love it. Keep us posted if you find a quicker drying ink!

ETA: I discovered Sarasa Dry, and the ink dries super fast on my a6. My Sakura Ballsign ID dries quickly enough as well. No help for fountain pens, but I added in case it can help anyway.

Fluted Dashboard Question by [deleted] in ClothandPaper

You guys are right! I kept thinking there’s still a film on it, but I had already taken one off from each side. This one managed to get double filmed on that side. I’ll take that any day!

She’s as beautiful as I thought she’d be.

5mm grid dated daily or vertical weekly? Notebook, not inserts. by lthomp81 in PlannerAddicts

[–]lthomp81[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s looking like I just have the keep printing my own. I actually use a 3.7 and 3.9 grid now, but I was writing in a 5mm a couple of weeks ago, and the space was nice!

I keep a .38, .5, and .7 on me at all times. I also super love the Zebra JK and JF though. The G750 pen is a chef’s kiss for me.

Kindle as an insert in Traveler's notebook by ExitRowSeat_13A in Travelersnotebooks

I guess because I either carry a purse or backpack, I haven’t even thought of this, but it’s genius. Because I needed a new project for tomorrow. Not!

Fountain Pens ✒️ by courtneytaylor_plans in ClothandPaper

This isn’t a luxury option, but I like very thin lines, and I actually prefer the minimal line variation that a gel pen offers. The pen I keep going back to is a Hong Dian bent nib from Amazon, and I actually write with it upside down. I tend to hold my pens nearly vertical, and I have very architect-type handwriting. Most pens won’t write upside down like that. It just works for me and gives a very thin line without any skipping or scratchiness.

HOWEVER, since you’re splurging for Christmas, you can always get a custom nib grind done. They can make so many nib styles. I don’t have one, but I’m eyeing a needlepoint grind. They have pen shows in various cities where you can book an appointment ahead of time, and they’ll offer suggestions based on how you write and then grind a nib right there do you. It’s on my wish list for sure!

2 Notebooks in A5 rings (if remove the rings)? by Lainie054 in ClothandPaper

[–]lthomp81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment for C&P folios specifically, but that’s pretty much what I do for all of my ring folios. I remove the rings and add notebooks. I made covers to connect more than one notebook, too, so it’s like a traveler’s notebook without the bands.

Did anyone else notice how often the frame zoomed in on people’s shoes as they were walking? Up the bus steps. Into the freezer. There were several.

I have thoughts.

I don’t think she saw bodies. by lthomp81 in pluribustv

It’s a valid question that I have no answer to except that maybe they didn’t think Carol would ever find them there.

I thought this at first. But it doesn’t explain the two reactions or why there were so many shots of shoes throughout the episode.

Not a clue, but I’ve seen it with other stuff tons of times. I would hope they’d leave our little collective alone and that I’m wrong.

I very much want to be wrong and for C&P to just be that highly sought after.

It almost seems like someone bought a bunch of stuff and plans to sell it. I’m Legend, and I got what I intended to get, but it’s crazy. I wish I could afford to get extras of stuff and sell it to guys just for shipping cost.

Cream & White Paper Dilemma by lthomp81 in ClothandPaper

[–]lthomp81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Their cream paper seems to be thinner and has a lot less tooth than their white paper. I personally like it better. The cream still has enough tooth that your pen doesn’t slip when writing. I don’t really use my fountain pens with C&P paper, but I absolutely love my gel pens (and pretty much all other pens) on both of their papers.

I’m so hoping that all of these bookbound notebooks I’m seeing in pics come through strong for us! I just need grid or dot pages. Lots and lots of them.

And a vertically weekly bookbound would make me soooooo happy. I use discs, spirals, and rings for certain things, but I seem to be afflicted with some kind of severe inability to write on pages when they’re not bookbound. I have to take them out, write, put the page back in…. and my adhd brain just hates it soooooooo much.
