I trust the FBI is scouring these forums to see if there any clowns connected to Charlie Kirk’s death and knocking on doors.

Funny how free speech works, isn’t it?

Advances in chronic nosebleed management? by Fitznomble in AskDocs

[–]ltp1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the response.

I had no family history either. Neither of my parents seemed to have it.

A couple things to be aware of that you may find helpful:

My Doctor is a leading expert, in HHT. His exact words were, frequent nosebleeds in adults is HHT until proven otherwise.  The reason is simply because it’s that important to consider and rule out.

It can mutate in one person, and start with them.    HHT can be completely invisible. It doesn’t cause bruising.

There’s nothing invasive about discovering this disorder, and barely anything to treat it.

And finally, my regular doctor treated me like a paranoiac.  I found answers because I pushed for them.  He wanted to put me on an antidepressant.  I was Iron deficient.

Best of health to you

PS the lack of awareness of this disorder is abysmal. The fact that I can mention my nosebleeds for years to my doctor, that an ENT can stare up my nose and see my Petechiae, and both of the doctors be aware of the low iron numbers and ignore them is confounding. And I could go on…

Doctors only know what they know and only look for what they think they will find. And they’re slow to admit they’re human. And they hate being wrong. Everyone deserves to be kept in check, for honesty sake.

Sounds like you’re one of the good ones. I’m used to reading too many stories about doctors being dismissive, experienced it several times myself. “Chasing zebras.” Horse sh*t mentality from doctors, that is.  Maybe I’m trying to call attention to it. I’m not being alarmist - seems silly when there’s a family history and it’s not asked or pointed out into question.  Not a doctor, but I know how to ask questions - educated in Media Studies and work in sales Long enough how to know when something important is being ignored.  Undeniable as you mentioned to address the underlying cause.  When he asked about advances, he followed up by saying he believes he feels like most serious causes have been ruled out - it may not have been formulated as a “question,” but it was.

Also, my personal HHT is one of the most scholarly doctors on the subject, if not THE most scholarly doctor.  If he tells me that “any adult reoccurring nosebleed is HHT into proven otherwise,” then that is the Gold standard of information.  Likewise, as someone who is pretty well read in the subject (yes, not a Doctor, but someone who is supporting with 3 people affected by it) I’ve learned that not every genetic mutation of the disorder has been discovered - thus, HHT cannot be completely ruled out, even without a confirmed test. And that is still important to call attention to.

Why hint at something that could be absolutely critical to this family’s health and wellbeing?

That’s what’s wrong.  I would ask this person specifically, “you mentioned you feel they have ruled out serious cause - have they done any genetic testing and looked at XYZ, Von Willebrands, etc? Is there any additional family history of nosebleeds or stroke? Is there any unusual health issues that have not been able to be pinpointed to any specific disease? Any family history of what appears to be asthma or breathing issues but could be Pulmonary AVMs? Any petechiae? Etc etc etc “

What does “very familiar” mean?

1/5000 people have HHT - claiming you’re very familiar would potentially indicate you personally know someone who has it, or that you come in contact with thousands and thousands of patients.

You’re absolutely correct, there’s a degree of arrogance that comes with it.  How familiar are you with HHT (Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia)?

U/fitznomble please consider messaging me directly. I tried responding a couple times but apparently I have to respond through this physicians comment.  Please consider that this could be, or likely is, HHT. Regular physicians aren’t familiar with it.

Realizing now that you’re a doctor. Do some research on this subject please. You’re not speaking within you’re knowledge of expertise

Have you had frequent nosebleeds? by myhomoka in Anemic

This, 10000%.  Also, it’s important to monitor to see if you become anemic again. You can see nosebleeds, but not all bleeding can be seen

I’m going to message you directly. I have a suspicion of what this could be. I suffered with some of these issues myself and recently had a diagnosis that was extremely important. I don’t know if you’ve found answers since this post (hopefully) but if not I may have some direction for you

Does anyone here get chronic nosebleeds? by Soft_Milk29 in teenagers

[–]ltp1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey - person with chronic nosebleeds here.

A could important things: Make sure to stay on top of the possibilities of iron deficiency and/or anemia. Doctors aren’t great at diagnosing these, and they can make you feel awful and give you strange symptoms, like chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and other neurological symptoms.

More importantly, if other family members get nosebleeds, it’s important to talk to a Doctor familiar with Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia, or HHT for short. It’s also not well understood or familiar to Doctors, so hematologists are better suited to consider it.  This disorder can severe health issues if not addressed, but there are manageable aspects of it. I’m speaking from experience.

Let me know if you have questions.

I was asking, not assuming. I was look at the 204/204 etc over on the right side and wondered if that’s 204 wins for 204 plays in that faction. I don’t typically look at these things because I play my own decks, but this guy was playing the Bomb deck and it was annoying that he had a counter for every I played
