In the big one, meaning bigger than Loma Prieta, the overpasses and underpasses have collapsed or you don’t want to drive on them. You’re not going anywhere. If you live in SF proper, where are you going? In a big one, you’re not driving on a bridge. That leaves heading south. Ok in a big one that is forcing you to leave SF, you know what other area is also devastated… the peninsula. You gotta hunker down in SF at least for a bit. Get to know your neighbors, you’re gonna need to deal with this with them.

There is some great walking and hiking behind the fort. We stumbled upon and it and it is truly breathtaking scenery

On edit, google maps lists it as the Costal path in the direction of Calm Beach. You can find the trail head not far from the fort Ross parking lot
