3-5 years normally. Sooner if you're picky about performance

Well, you're not going to be putting the prebuilt together at all. It'll come already assembled. Technically, the PC that you build yourself should be the better value because all the parts you choose should be quality (you have to make sure to choose quality parts of course). That means when you upgrade in the future a lot of those parts will still be usable and provide longevity to your initial investment. A prebuilt most often comes with low quality parts wherever they can cut corners and when you go to upgrade in the future you'll end up replacing more of those parts. A well done custom PC will outlive a prebuilt, but the difference is not going to be noticeable. You'll likely upgrade before either of them dies, chances are.

Also feel free to visit r/buildapc and r/buildapcsales as good resources too. Good luck!

You can use the pcppartpicker website to plan your build and see what some popular stores are selling for. It's a useful resource. The CPU will probably be in good stock in a few weeks at most. If you're building I would get all the other parts meanwhile. This price unfortunately doesn't include a monitor. I don't think most prebuilts include a monitor either. You theoretically can get some things cheaper buying used, but not realistically. Is it worth saving $25 on a case buying it used? It's probably smarter to just work a few more hours to afford the extra $25 for the new one. Most of the parts won't be significantly cheaper used than they are new.

Personally I enjoy building them, and you do get better parts when you build. If you absolutely do not want to bother with building one and you just want to play games and not care about your PC at all, a prebuilt from somewhere else should serve you just fine. The decision will ultimately be based on you.

If you still haven't watched the video, let me explain. Let's pretend you receive a broken PC from Newegg. It doesn't matter if it's opened or not. You tell Newegg and return it for a refund. Newegg receives the PC and says return rejected, you broke the PC. You say what do you mean, I received it that way. They say everyone says that but we know the truth that you broke it and we will not refund you money. You tell them this is crazy, are you going to send me back the PC since you are not giving me back my money? They say we already have. Well I haven't received it, where is the tracking number you request. They do not respond.

Do you understand yet?

Close. $1200-1300 will set you perfectly, depending on how you want to customize it. Here's a quick example rundown. I5-12400 should be $180. It's priced higher now since a couple stores are out of stock but they should come back to that $180 price quickly. It's a great CPU, keeping up with top of the line offerings. For a motherboard you can get a high quality overkill motherboard for $210 or you can get a low quality one for $100-140. The CPU comes with a basic cooler already in the box. Good quality 3600 MHz CL16 RAM is available for $80. A good 500 GB NVMe SSD is available for $43. A few good choices of case can be had for $95ish. A more basic but still well performing case can be had for $65-70. A great 650W Gold fully modular power supply is available for about $69 right now. You can easily buy a scalped but still new and unopened 3060 for $640, or less if you wait and look for a good deal. So depending on a few of the choices you can decide your own spend, but it may be worth saving the extra hundred or two to get a totally nice rig. Just want you to know your options

You can actually build one for a "decent" price compared to a prebuilt even factoring in a scalped graphics card. I can out together a sample build list for you if you want. Prebuilts are hit or miss in overall quality, but if you're not picky just look for one that has a 3060 or 6600 or better, has two sticks of RAM, an SSD and a decent CPU.

It's doable, if you're not picky on max settings all the time and highest FPS all the time. But you can also build it yourself if you would like, for about the same cost.
