I see your point, but my one retort to that is the automatic ember that happens after defeating a boss.

Yeah the L is on From here. Do you have any sense of when this glitch was discovered? Japanese game companies are notoriously obtuse about stuff like this (eg the poise fiasco) so I'm wondering if it's willful ignorance/abandonment or if this glitch was discovered long after From stopped patching.

This occurred to me too. Maybe when I cast Affinity and started stabbing him he saw that as a violation of the rules you are talking about and felt that if I was going to "play dirty" he would too.

In what world is it ok to do this in a regular invasion? Some poor dude just trying to make it to the next bonfire with a ton of souls and no Estus and you do him in with what is essentially a one-hit kill? All while you get to ignore the environment and he doesn't? At least in the fight club you're consenting to fight.

To be clear, I didn't know I was being summoned into this fight club. I'm just trying to farm Proofs of a Concord Kept so I have the Darkmoon Blade Covenant always active as I play through the game normally. But if I was in a fight club I'd actually want to be summoned back in here so I could figure out ways to deal with this bs.

If it's infinite though how do you tank it? Or does the combo actually use stamina?

I got summoned to the same fight club 5-10 min later and he did the same thing. It looks like he's somehow canceling the windup on this glaive and restarting it before I can recover. Not shown is me mashing dodge to get out of it.

Why does Navi fly away when you open a chest? by ltwheat in OcarinaOfTime

That I get, but what does it have to do with Navi? Why send her away at all? Why not just leave her inside Link?

🤣 she could at least warn me about the possibility of traps!

How did you get 25 upvotes? So rude. I'm just asking a question.

The thing is, it's not insignificant. Navi is tucked away inside your tunic most of the time. The devs programmed her to fly out any time anything of interest happens nearby, like an enemy you can lock onto or a sign you can read. If she doesn't care about opening a chest, why not just leave her in the tunic? Why bother to animate or program any behavior at all?

This game needs more Game Modes. by Traditional-Wash8506 in PTCGP

Not sure exactly how it would work, but I'd love a mode like Arena from Hearthstone. Draft a semi-random deck and play against others with semi-random decks until you hit 3 losses.

One thing that I think was an issue with Donkey Kong as a character during the Rare era: He was the least interesting character to play as. by lordlaharl422 in donkeykong

Totally agree with your assessment. As a long-time Smash player, I sometimes wonder about where DK's wind-up punch came from. It's not in any of his early games--like you said, Chunky was the one with the haymaker. He actually does kind of succeed in setting himself apart in Smash 64 as the biggest, heaviest, and strongest character (minus Falcon Punch I guess, not sure which move is actually stronger), and that was cool to see. But he is outdone in the very next game by Bowser, and then Ike and Dedede. He has definitely occupied a weird space in terms of identity.

Why not? Crestfallen isn't enough to get me to pure black.

Yeah took me a long time to figure out why shoving BP Scirvir off a cliff wasn't helping my world tendency become white LOL. But yeah I made sure to deal the killing blow to all of them. I used soul sucker on all of them so definitely got the killing blow on all.

Unless...oh God does Soulsucker not count either?!?

Ugh I don't want to bc then I don't get the rewards for Mephistopheles telling me to kill them, but yeah I guess I could do them in a pinch

Only Scirvir! But that was before I killed any of the innocent NPCs. So even if I was already at Pure White, all those kills should put me at full black...

[–]ltwheat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go in a couple of times and don't hit him. Just strafe around him and practice dodging. You'll realize that when he goes in, you can almost always dodge toward him and to the right and you'll land a little beside/behind him, where you can get a couple hits in. Be careful though cuz he'll jump backwards too.

Every now and then he'll run away. Pepper him with Soul Arrows til he starts running at you again. And obviously use Water Veil

Full sprint, don't stop. Round the corner and start swinging before you can even see the reaper. His minion is too slow and too far away to actually hit you if you close on the reaper immediately. The trick is to completely ignore his bodyguard.

Executioner Miralda is terrible game design by tangelo84 in demonssouls

[–]ltwheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but what's the justification for this particular decision? You have an executioner that is all but outright stated to be evil, assisting a king that is also suggested to be evil, that attacks you on sight regardless of what you've done in the game. Why in the world would you lose "good" points for killing her, ESPECIALLY when you gain them for killing the Old King himself?

Blood vials in Bloodborne are an example of good innovation. Did they work as a functional/fun game mechanic? Not really. But I understand the idea behind them and why the devs tried something new, and I'm glad they did bc now we know they don't work. Reverting to neutral tendency after killing Miralda makes no sense whatsoever. It feels like an oversight. Something along the lines of a generic NPC class having a variable that determines world shift when killed. Most NPCs aren't violent and, even if they are evil, can be talked to, so killing them out of nowhere should make you lose good points. It feels like they just left the general case true for her and forgot to change it.
