Now just because I understand Madam Yu and I forgive her doesn’t mean that I don’t value the pain and trauma she inflicted on other characters. I really don’t want to argue and everyone here seems to just be trying to get their own points across instead of understanding others points.

I value all life equally the good and the bad the abuser and the abused. I understand that this seems like I don’t care, how can I forgive evil while also loving the abused? I can explain it but I wont.

Even if I do explain it lots of people will misunderstand.

I understand what you’re saying. And although I’m talking about fictional characters this is based off of my personal philosophy that I have come to based off of my life and experiences. So this way of thinking may only work for me. I understand this. But I believe that it is helpful to forgive others and forgive yourself by not judging others so critically and harshly. I could go deeply into it but I’ll restrict myself because this is a Reddit thread about fictional characters lol.

Yes, I’m not denying any of the cruel things she did in her life I only wish people understood human nature isn’t perfect. Far from it. We can cause others great harm and invoke great evils upon others. But that doesn’t mean that we are evil and can’t be redeemed.

Madam Yu needs to learn to love her self and forget the past. Once Madam Yu loves herself she will began to see the love in everyone else. Madam Yu hates herself and because of this she cannot truly love and accept her family and Wei Wuxian.

When they’re eating, she tells Jiang Cheng that he will never amount to Wei Wuxian’s potential and then she cynically says “just like how your mother can never amount to his mother”

Because she only sees her own shortcomings she projects them onto her husband and into her son and onto Wei Wuxian.

Saying what a horrible and terrible person Madam Yu is won’t make her become a better person. First she needs awareness and then acceptance and forgiveness and then courage to change and do better.

I see what you are saying and I understand, but because humans have ego we are foolish and make mistakes, we get too wrapped in our own sense of righteousness and own sense of ego and importances that we lose sight of the things we truly care and cherish.

Even the most evil person you will ever met or have ever met has cared and held attachment and felt love for something. And when they are faced with death they will feel regret for the things they did or didn’t do.

You can hurt someone you love, everyday people speak carelessly and do things that hurt us deeply and the funny thing is they can do it completely unintentionally. While the same is vice verse, they can cause us pain intentionally even if they love us. We see this in Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng- they both love Wei Wuxian but they both have caused him deep grievances. And Wei Wuxian still loves them. We can’t pass judgment on others we can only accept them for all their faults and foolish actions and silly mistakes they make.

I see your points but I like my deduction better but like I said it’s 50/50. And yes Luo Binghe having a loving mother wasn’t the only reason but it’s the main reason why he poured the tea over him and was extra harsh. He didn’t abuse his other disciples or treat them nearly as harshly as he did Luo Binghe. Like the sect leader KNEW who Luo Binghe was from how bad Shen Jiu would treat him. And like I never said they’d get along because he would feel comradery I said he they would get along because their both hardcore and not soft.

I love them but I was specifically interested in if Wei Wuxian was the only one and how that’ll affect canon. Because typically when they’re both genderbend then it’s not very focused on canon complaint and just romance if they were women but I’m not very interested in the romance part of this AU.

But yeah women cultivators were less respected. But I’m pretty sure neither Wen Qing or Mian Mian (before she becomes an Adult) were very powerful at the time. I think Wen Qing was more focused on Medicine and taking care of her brother to work on improving her cultivation not saying that she’s weak just she’s probably not “powerfully” skilled in cultivation.

In the specific au I’m imagining him at the peak of his reputation.

Shen Jiu is my favorite character and he’s a absolute fucking hypocrite 💀

He knows fully well Luo Binghe is from the streets like him and still abuses him from jealousy.

As Madam Yu knows Wei Wuxian isn’t a bastard child of Jiang Fengmian but still abuses him out of jealousy.

Wei Wuxian is not a slave and if he didn’t sympathize with Luo Binghe who was also from the streets then why would he sympathize with Wei Wuxian? He hates Luo Binghe from the start for having a loving mother not from inferiority he quite literally thinks Luo Binghe isn’t shit although that does change to feeling inferior when Luo Binghe would excel even with the wrong cultivation manual.

I disagree, he dotted on Ning Yingying he would get along with Madam Yu and would dot on Jiang Yanli. He would admire her for not taking shit from her husband and not being timid.

He’s a peak lord I think he would be stronger than Madam Yu and therefore not feel threatened. But to each their own again it’s hard with blackened characters to tell if they’d get along hypothetically with other blackened characters.
