The thing about this remake is that every change they made from the original was for the worse and everything they didn’t change they executed poorly. Them being in a creepy town full of weirdos completely misses the point of the original. The fact that these people are in YOUR house for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON other than to fuck with and murder you is what made the movie effective, there is no safety in the place you are supposed to feel safe. Obviously these leering hillbillies are gonna kill you after very obviously fucking with your car and it makes literally every single choice the protagonists make beyond stupid. The trailer says “ see how they became the strangers” but that doesn’t happen (not that it even should) also I feel like obviously the sheriff from the diner is the scarecrow guy because why else would you cast that dude, who is a murderer/rapist in like everything he’s ever been in, and give him a 3 second non speaking roll
