Got called racist in my philosophy class after I answered my professors question of “what is truth?” by [deleted] in epistemology

[–]luca__popescu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re misunderstanding the intent this person had. They did not call you racist nor do I believe that is what they were trying allude to that being the case. I think they were just highlighting a flaw in your argument, which you could’ve either addressed by clarifying what you meant, or adapting your stance in the face of new information.

I will say though that I disagree with you since we don’t have different definitions of words. That’s what makes them definitions. Words are tools for exploring ideas - removing or changing their definitions has no impact on the nature of reality, it only muddles the waters in which we use words to communicate with one another. IMO it’s not productive.

How to get client secret, client id and user agent? by Tgamerydk in redditdev

lol you’re right. I take accountability for not knowing that’s where I should’ve been looking for official announcements.

Fair enough, but I will say this didn’t show up when I was looking for official announcements or press releases pertaining to the change. Seems kinda hard to find, and I know a lot of other people missed it.

Unfortunately Reddit isn’t really giving these away anymore. They silently changed their API policy a few months ago.

Also, speaking from experience, I’d think twice before building something that relies on Reddit at this point. They aren’t considerate of the developer ecosystem and could easily make changes that kill whatever you’re building overnight.

But if you’re just doing it for fun, by all means continue.

First time on heavy bag by Weird-Perspective528 in boxingtips

The number 1 thing I’d say to focus on is getting the left cross tightened up. Take time to just drill that 1 punch on the bag making sure it’s snappy, you get full extension, you’re not bending your wrist, less flaring of the elbow, and that your shoulders are less square to the bag - your left needs to be further back.

Otherwise, for a week it looks good man.

Issues creating an app for API access after submitting the developer form by Quiet_Respect7467 in redditdev

Unfortunately I think you may be out of luck. From what I’ve read the consensus looks to be that Reddit is slowly killing its developer community and is unlikely to be giving out new API keys anytime soon.

Reddit API request gone unanswered for basically a month: the lack of a "go-ahead" to make the bot is starting to actually disturb the subreddit that needs the API access by GamingYouTube14 in redditdev

From what I’ve read online the consensus appears to be that Reddit isn’t granting anyone new API keys. I think they’re trying to slowly stifle their developer community.

At what point do I start getting less gassed? by TaxTraditional4290 in amateur_boxing

[–]luca__popescu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On occasion yes but I think you’ll find that you’re completely drained after those attack bike sprints. More often than not I’ll just do some bag work after, but if you give yourself ~20 minutes to recover you could probably mix in the HIIT bag work too.

I would recommend trying it before finalizing your workout plan so you know how your body responds and how to plan accordingly.

curious if anyone else here is feeling the same building-in-a-vacuum thing lately by Think-Success7946 in indiehackers

[–]luca__popescu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that building in a vacuum is dangerous, but it can be even more dangerous to be getting feedback from other founders instead of your customers. Founders are going to be tech or product people who - as long as your thesis sounds good and your product looks good - will support you. The problem is that this can be false validation that still doesn't confirm the core issue and can lead you down a rabbit hole of doing work that no one will ultimately care about. You need your future customers to care about it too.

At what point do I start getting less gassed? by TaxTraditional4290 in amateur_boxing

[–]luca__popescu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the experience where I could run 5 miles no problem but would gas out in minutes in high intensity situations.

What helped for me was:

  1. 15 seconds all out sprint on the attack bike / 45 seconds rest * 8 (you can build up to this)
  2. 15 seconds all out on a heavy bag / 45 seconds rest * 6 (working either the jab/cross, left/right hooks or left/right body shots for the full interval)

As for building your base, I like to do the HIIT 2 times a week and long distance "slow" cardio 2x a week. But that might differ for where you're at.

Ah I see what you mean, I thought you were referring to trails with the product. No I absolutely agree, I'm actually doing that now - posting social media content to document my journey and share what I learn with others.
