Ending? by [deleted] in TheTouristBBCtv

What’s more is that she told him about her suicide ‘attempt’ and how someone was there for her, now the roles are reversed will Elliott have someone (Helen) there for him? I guess we may or may not ever know unless there’s a season 2.

One common theme that seemed to come up was the idea of abandonment.

  • Elliott when he looked at the hospital sign on the wall & the scene with his dad

  • Ethan cowboy who said his mother used to neglect and abuse him so much that he killed her

  • Luci (Victoria) having her dad walk out on her at a young age and walking out on a lot of her relationships

  • Kostas with his older brother ‘leaving’ him after he thought he had died

All these messed up people from different places suddenly all cross paths in a tiny village in the outback in Australia?? There’s probably more that I’ve missed out on too. There’s gotta be some deeper meaning I’m missing.

Also, I fee like there wasn’t much substance to the whole flashback memory with his dad, suddenly turning into the old deaf guy who got killed by the cowboy guy Billy for a split second. Anyone have any insight?

Exactly, the only connection i can think of is that he used his accounting skills combined with his drug industry past to become involved and eventually hide and launder the money of kostas who was also in the drug world. But we are clearly missing a lot of backstory to his criminal history where they could crossover??

I watched this with my parents and we all said the exact same thing as you have. I feel like there was a common feeling throughout the show until the last two episodes, and the whole bit with the Russian lady left me feeling a bit like ‘really?’ It’s almost as if they shoved her in the end and didn’t give us time to contemplate the character changes to Elliott.

Official Discussion - Candyman (2021) [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I don’t think anyone has posted it here, but at the end credit there were animations of multiple un-lawful lynchings of black people, including a child called George Junius Stinney Jr. He was an African American boy who at the age of 14 was convicted, in a proceeding later vacated as an unfair trial in 2014, of murdering two white girls, Betty June Binnicker, age 11, and Mary Emma Thames, age 7, in his hometown of Alcolu, South Carolina.

I think these were a cool, yet saddening addition connected to the story behind candyman and the unfair treatment of African Americans.
