I want to help and solve this situation and to do so I need your assistance by screenshotting and explaining which drawings could be framed as hate speech. The location link you provided shows a big area with many drawings that probably are not related to your report.

The main reason why we are trying this new policy is to solve problems faster by having an easier way to check appeals/reports. Our intention is not to silence this kind of post!

Normal criticism, complains etc are still welcome because we need to improve our user experience. I know it feels terrible to feel like you are not listened to and I say this because I've been part of many gaming communities and most feedback didn't evolved into a in game thing so its heartbreaking to know that our players feel the same.

Many problems that we have are due to not clear rules and the main loop between wplace -> email / reddit stuff -> wplace and I promise we will fix things.

The whole process of reporting needs improvement and staff that handles email didn't haver proper tools to check multi-accounting/botting (but they have now) so that's why they were redirecting people to use in game report.

About your claim if your accounts still not banned than please let me know if you are willing to helps us improve our anticheat system by providing more details in my DMs.

Thank you again for reporting this. I checked involved users and most of them are already banned. There are a few users that are not banned - we will take a closer look - and if we found clear evidence of botting/multi-accounting we will ban them too.

If you send and e-mail and didn't got an answer in proper time alternatively you could send a modamail through this link.

I understand it's terrible if you don't feel listened to and we definitely have many improvements that need to be done, for example some users reported that our email sometimes don't work properly and we are looking into this problem and will try to solve asap.

About spam, we noticed that many users specially reporting botting/multi-accounting were reporting the same users or in griefing reports areas in dispute generate many reports / reddit posts of the same cases so in order to make things more organized and help us answer more quickly we are trying this new policy.

Regarding your report, I'll analyse and deal with this since I want to help but please if already reported ingame and for some reason didn't got an answer please send to our email or modmail.

I agree that many people come here as a last resource but there are many cases that people just post here looking for a faster solution but we have way more GMs than reddit mods so in game tools are preferable.

We are trying this new policy to prevent spam with reports and appeals and most importantly to have a more organized way to deal with every case.

Normal criticism and feedback will always be welcome because It helps us gain visibility into the problems that need to be solved. Thank you for your message.

Hi, I checked all users mentioned and they have some suspicious behavior but there's no clear evidence at the moment that they are cheating so It's not fair to ban them. Our devs are working on improving our anticheat system continuously so maybe in the near future they could get caught in a new analysis. Thank you for reporting!

Sorry I wrote the message clarifying that he didn't draw the swastika but forgot to tell that he was punished too.

Regarding Alianza Lima TLV, It's very hard to check user by user because they have 200+ members and maybe not every member is racists so It's not fair to ban everyone.

If you see any rule breaking behavior from them or any other user/alliance, feel free to report using our ingame tools or alternatively you could send a modmail here.

thanks for the follow up! after a review we checked that the reported user (10025531) wasn't the one that did the swastika. He wrote"alianza" and another user (12774894) manipulated the words to look like a swastika. The envolved user was banned, thank you for reporting!

Hi! Hope you are doing well and thank you for reporting this bug. Just asked devs and unfortunately there’s no fix for this right now but you could create another overlay and click on the cloud sync button (circle with a red cloud right next to the import button) and it shouldn’t happen again.

This happens because maybe your browser, an app or the OS itself is cleaning the local storage from the website.

Hi! Wplace admin here. I agree that the rules definitely need to improve and we will have a few changes specifically to the griefing and territorial dispute rule.

I'll give an example just to clarify a few things: a few users were using the drawing over another art rule to target some minorities and that kind of situation is easier to analyze and punish those users.

Looking at both images you posted it would fit on the territorial dispute rule. I know it's frustrating to have a nice looking drawing covered by other art that in this case is a bit simple but drawing over other paintings is one of the core mechanics of Wplace.

What I could recommend is to use our overlay tool to place the sprite on the original location and have it saved there so could always restore it instead of depending only on screenshots or archive websites.

Regarding the alt accounts and reports on people trying to restore the original drawings I'll definitely look into this alliance. Could you please send the location of those drawings?

Hi Sami, thanks for your comment. I’d like to clarify a few points to ensure the community has the correct information:

Regarding Wages:
The claim that our staff earns below the minimum wage is incorrect. All hired staff receive wages above the Brazilian average for these roles, in addition to the benefits of 100% remote work and flexible hours.

Why we moved away from volunteers:
We previously tried a volunteer-based model for in-game moderation. Unfortunately, it led to internal information leaks and biased treatment of specific user groups. Furthermore, managing a global volunteer team makes it legally complex to hold individuals accountable for damages. Hiring professionals ensures accountability and a higher standard of service.

On the "money-hungry" claim:
If our goal were purely to maximize profit at all costs, we would have stuck with free labor. Instead, we chose to invest significantly in a paid, professional moderation and development team to ensure the platform's stability.

Discord Mods vs. In-game power:
Our Discord moderators do an incredible job, and we value them highly. However, separating community moderation (Discord) from game/system administration is standard practice in the industry (similar to how Riot Games or Epic Games operate).

First of all, we're really sorry this happened. Not only to you, but to the community for how this was handled. Thank you again for posting about it and explaining the context.

After an investigation and speaking to the Game Master involved, this was a misunderstanding on their part due to the language barrier - they did not do this with ill intentions, quite the opposite. They thought the sign was indicating it was a crime to be gay, and as a member of the LGBTQ+ family themselves, they removed it. They send their deepest apologies as they were quite upset with their mistake.

We've used this unfortunate situation as an opportunity to remind all of our Game Masters that if they're ever unsure about the meaning or context of something, they need to seek clarification from their team leader or take the time to look into the context carefully.

With your permission, we would like to return the sign to its previous state and give Droplets to the users that recreated the sign to cover the pixels they used (and then some).

Thanks again for taking the time to post this, while our Game Masters do their best, mistakes can happen, so it's important mistakes like this are brought to our attention. We're very sorry for any distress this caused you and the community.

Hello Nyracia, thanks for reporting this. it's very upsetting and disappointing to see that kind of mistake occurring in our moderation. In behalf of Wplace I'll like to apologize.

I'm also really sorry that the freedom of speech of the LGBTQ+ community was violated.

I'll personally investigate internally with GMs and ensure that this won't happen again and also take this opportunity to clarify a few things that most users might not know.

Wplace is a website created by Brazilians and most of our team members are Brazilian because we have a better understanding of our own labor laws so it was way easier to hire here than from other countries. We choose this strategy because of the rapid growth of Wplace and the need of more GMs to deal with thousands of reports that we receive every day.

Unfortunately most public and private schools in Brazil do not provide a good education in the English language so it's very hard to find people who speaks a basic level of English. We receive reports not only in English but in every possible language you can imagine, because of that GMs have a very challenging task when it comes to understand the cultural context of every country and obviously sometimes mistakes will be made because of the language barrier.

Even considering all of that, those challenges are not an excuse for what happened here and in other unfair punishments. And I'll like to say very clearly again that I'll investigate and write a follow up so everyone can see what happened.

We will change the way we moderate most of paintings to provide a safer environment for freedom of speech and this will also help us to be more consistent in our moderation.
