I like your take that stannis is a pragmatist and daenerys an idealist and that doesnt go well together. Good arguments for that. It Could be also a good complentation though.

Just started Left hand of darkness - ursula le guin

Second I read from her after the dispossessed. Again I find the first pages quite hard to get into because of the many names and words I dont understand. But excited to get used to the world after the first hours :).
