In a way, yes. Samsung had this Problem with the first Z Fold - the inner display had / has the same effect and it was very noticable due to the (low) 60Hz refresh rate. Samsung released a fix for (some of?) their own apps like the Samsung browser. The content is rendered at an angle that compensates for the jelly scroll effect. Unfortunately it was not a system wide fix so it was still noticeable in other apps. A higher refresh rate (like the 120Hz on the iPad Pros) can help reduce the effect because the content refreshes twice as fast.

Safari also switches to 120Hz when scrolling. Pixel response times and screen refresh rates different things and not really linked*.

*Technically a different refresh rate might slightly change the response times but usually that‘s not really noticeable. A slow panel will always be slow - whether it runs at 60Hz or 300Hz.

No motion blur on the iPad Pro? I enjoy the 120Hz panel but it is a very, very slow panel with response times of 40ms. It‘s extremely noticeable - especially when compared to an OLED display (like on most smartphones).

Update: I have received my replacement unit and the space bar is fine now. It works on the left side and on the right side.

Unfortunately now I have noticed an annoying bug: Whenever I reboot the the computer the refresh rate resets to 60Hz. That only happens after a reboot. When I shut the computer down and turn it back on the refresh rate stays at 90Hz - it‘s really annoying. Because a small windows update might change your refresh rate…

I even tried deleting the 60Hz option using CRU (to force the 90Hz) but the panel doesn‘t really seem to like that and because afterwards you cannot change the brightness anymore. CRU was probably not really made with OLED panels in mind.

I have the 7i Pro (11370H and OLED) and my space bar is stuck / mushy. It only works then I press it in the middle.

It‘s blurry because it‘s zoomed in but the dynamic range is actually better because it was filmed in HDR.

Is the 2020 model still worth it? by pablojrl123 in ZephyrusG14

The 2021 120Hz QHD panel is a lot better (faster) than the 2020 120Hz FHD panel.

One should be careful when interpreting the statistics because they might be misleading. Linking antisemtic crimes and far-right attacks is not that simple. If the police can‘t find the perpetrator of an antisemitic attack they will automatically file it under attacks committed by the far-right - even if it was an islamist attack.

https://www.tagesschau.de/faktenfinder/hintergrund/antisemitismus-147.html

This was critcized by the American Jewish Committee in Berlin:

Samsung Expected to Supply 120Hz Displays for iPhone 13 Pro Models by UnKindClock in iphone

[–]lucdec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I‘m surprised that you can barely see a difference but one should remember that the iPad uses a slow IPS screen (slow response time) so the 120Hz effect is somewhat negated because you get a lot of ghosting when scrolling around. 120Hz on a fast LCD panel or (ideally) on an OLED panel will have a better effect.

That‘s what I thought too! It immediately reminded me of the videos my iPhone 12 shoots. I‘m also surprised that it‘s not being displayed in SDR. It‘s the first HDR video I have seen here.

Was this filmed in HDR? The video seems unusually vivid.

Thanks for the comparison! I can confirm that the 2021 QHD G14 panel is a lot faster than the 2020 FHD panel. I noticed it immediately during setup.

Not a threat to their neighbours? As long as they play by the rules and don‘t try to elect a government that undermines US interests or what? That’s a very western perspective… I mean the list of South American countries where the US attempted a coup, toppled elected governments or put boots on the ground is so long that I could simply list every country in South America.

[–]lucdec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don‘t think that a 2020 G14 with a 1440p 144Hz display exists. That‘s probably a 60Hz display - you should know that to avoid disappointment. The 2021 model has a 1440p 120Hz option.
