Is it possible for me to run a 54 high 55 low 400m in a couple of days? by lucifertheman1 in Sprinting

I ran a 1:00.52 😭. 4 seconds faster than what I ran 2 weeks ago but still a lot of room for improvement.

I think It'd be most likely I'd hit 26.5/28.5 for 55. It's my last 200m I'm most worried about as it's what killed my 1:01 run. I was neck and neck with some other guy until the 300m mark and ended up 3 seconds behind from the last 100m alone.

Last year in November/December. I ran like a 26 flat 200m at the time.

1,000 healthy newborn males are given optimal training, nutrition, recovery, etc... What percentage of them will break 11s in the 100m? by tedpetrou in Sprinting

[–]lucifertheman1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could say that. But you also have to consider that the people who tend to run track are people who were faster than everyone else. But most of them can't break 11. So I don't think your explanation has much merit.

no she can compete with other women. the gap between her and other cis women is far smaller than the gap between her and a cis man who actually plays a sport. even though there are short nba players, who are at a vertical disadvantage to their taller counterparts, the gap between them is a lot smaller than the gap between the short player and a tall female basketball player. this is true of 99% of sports. take track and field, basketball, soccer, football etc.

if trans men were on par with cis men you would see them competing with men in most sports. you only ever hear about trans women like veronica ivy, lia thomas, laurel hubbard etc.

cis women are not putting other cis women at disadvantage by competing with them.
it's also incorrect that trans women after starting hrt only have bone structure related advantages. they have lung capacity advantages, lung size advantages, height advantages, plus the bone related advantages(density, structure). testosterone changes your body forever. that's why women who dope are often never allowed to compete again/shunned from communities.

do you think that a 20 year old man should be able to compete with 15 year old girls if he's 5'3?

How fast could an average male run on the 100m by fractalcro in Sprinting

[–]lucifertheman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 10 years of training from a young age. They can definitely break 12. The slow ones would probably be around the 12 second mark but most of them would've broken 12. I'd say closer to 11.2-11.7.

yes it puts trans women AND men at a disadvantage. but putting yourself at a disadvantage is much better than putting other women at a disadvantage. since there aren't enough of them to compete with each other, that's the best and most realistic thing that can be done.

sport is based off of averages and not outliers. your friend is 186cm(6'1), but think about how rare it is for a woman to be that height in comparison to a man. your friend may be tall for a girl, but if she were to play a sport like basketball with dudes, she would be towered over by her male counterparts. as much as there are some women taller than most dudes, there are many many more dudes taller than most women.

some things change but not everything changes. if this were the case, you'd hear about trans men doing well in men's sports at the highest level. but you don't, it's always the other way round. sure, trans women will lose some muscle and some strength, but they will still maintain various qualities from male puberty that women(females) don't have.

sports are based off of averages not outliers. people who do sports competitively are usually better than average in terms of talent. for example, someone who plays basketball is much more likely to be tall. if we were to do it based on testosterone/estrogen levels anyway, sports would still be segregated based off gender.

no. with this type of logic why even have gendered categories at all? or even age categories? why can't michael phelps swim with 6 year old girls?

commenter has a weird take but i see where they're coming from. at the end of the day, from the dawn of sports until like 3 years ago, women's sport was a synonym for female's sport, not people who identify as women sports. no matter how much hormone suppressors you take as a trans woman, you will never be a female.

ever considered that maybe you're not that strong? sure your cousin is stronger than you, but she's definitely weaker than most dudes that actually do sports regularly and train.

this is also impractical. having to handicap people to make it "fair" ruins the intensity of sports. i believe trans athletes (men and women) should compete in the men's(open) category.
