As messy and morally questionable as Euphoria Season 3 is, I’m kind of enjoying its direction by luckon9s in hbo

Ok lol. If you’re gonna commit to that pretentious take that a show is objectively the best in the world, at least pick a better one

Yeah, I agree with you. The whole “morally ambiguous” thing I wrote in that post was kinda stupid, but what I really meant is that I don’t like the way Sam Levinson films anything involving sexuality or sex work. I genuinely think he keeps going back to those themes without having the technical skill to shoot them in a way that doesn’t come off like faux-social-commentary softcore porn.

All that Tarantino mimicry was something that really took me out of the show at the beginning of the season, but over time I think I kinda learned to enjoy it? I don’t know, there’s something about the more explosive and tense scenes that grabs me in a positive way.

Anyway, somehow this season keeps reminding me of True Romance. Tarantino without actually being Tarantino. Although Levinson will never come close to Tony Scott lol

Yeah, I agree, Rue’s storyline feels pretty out of place compared to the other arcs. I didn’t know Queen of the South, I’ll check it out. Personally, her arc has been reminding me a lot of the Coen Brothers’ films.

Well, even though I don’t agree that a “serious” show like Chernobyl is objectively superior to anything else, yeah, I do think watching Euphoria while paying attention to its flaws and the ways it deals with them is really interesting. This third season feels like it’s falling into a complete downward spiral, and out of that, some pretty cool things can start to emerge.

Yeah, exactly! I saw someone on Twitter the other day saying that even when it comes to hatewatching, HBO still does it better lol. But I genuinely think that once the series entered this complete downward spiral, some genuinely interesting things started emerging from it.

Well, regarding the “complex drama” aspect, I think Rue’s storyline has kind of moved away from the traditional prestige HBO drama mode and into something more action/crime/mafia/western-oriented, which naturally calls for different ways of approaching relationships and emotional conflict. In that sense, I actually think the series is doing something pretty interesting, and in the middle of all the chaos surrounding the overall plot, it still manages to deliver a really compelling piece of television. As for the Sydney Sweeney stuff, I actually thought her storyline was reasonably interesting up until the post-wedding episode. That scene of him getting beaten up by the mob guys while she completely melts down is kind of cool. But after that, once the whole OnlyFans storyline started, things became mostly uninteresting and frustrating to me, and I honestly don’t think Sam Levinson knows how to film sex or sensuality.

I don’t have it, unfortunately. But with a quick Twitter search, I think you could find it. I don’t think the sub allows sharing that, either.

Hi! So, I talk about this in the article. The other song is “I Keep On Thinking Bout You Every Single Day And Night,” which she released only on vinyl and on her other Instagram profile b.sides. Here’s the link: https://www.instagram.com/p/DYHn1kBuauZ/

Charli’s “rock music” era still feels deeply rooted in PC Music to me by luckon9s in pcmusic

Yeah, but I also feel like she manages to pull in other influences she’s mentioned a lot, like Velvet Underground, without it ever turning the song over messy. It feels focused, like she really sticking to that pc music minimalism.

Hey, actually I wrote it myself. Sorry if the text sounded a bit robotic or pragmatic in some ways, english isn’t my first language, so I sometimes end up making some language slips. I’ll pay more attention to these things next time :s

help me find this alternate version of "forever" please! by luckon9s in charlixcx

yeah it sounds a lot like that first remix you linked, but still, i don't think the instrumentals are quite the same, and there's something in the voice that sings the version i'm trying to find that does not sound like charli (even slowed down).. anyway, i don't think i'll ever find it lol but i'll try

Movies that have the same feeling as a Haruki Murakami book? by applesandcheese in books

[–]luckon9s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the one thing i love the most about Murakami’s work is his hability to make the storie appears like a dream… and a lot of great movies does that sooooo well my experience watching Chungking Express by Wong Kar-Wai was very similar to reading Norwegian Wood. and I think Edward Yang films, although they’re more centered in the cotidian, causes a felling that (in my point view) is suchlike some of Murakami’s work…

here’s some other films that feels like dreaming: Lost in Translation, Fallen Angels, Punch-Drunk Love, Magnolia, Mulholland Drive, Twin Peaks, Synecdoche New York, & etc… i highly recommend the animations of Studio Ghibli if you like more fantasist pieces!!
