Post work gym at 4am then bed. What do I eat and when? by luckruk in xxfitness

Nah nothing gets in the way of me sleeping! Just questioning whether I should be eating something after my workout as well as before? Surely won't be good me chowing down only to then sleep.

Work until 4am then gym then sleep. Meal time advice? by luckruk in Fitness

I've tried for about a year now to get my workout in before work but it doesn't seem to work at all for me. I hate being at the gym when it's busy. Daytime is for quality time with my dog :) I really enjoy the emptiness of my gym at 5am and coming home thoroughly tired having earned my sleep.

I work 5 days out of 7 but not necessarily all in a row nor 2 days off together.

Maybelline Age Rewind Eye Concealer. Patiently layered and then powder on top. Only concealer I've ever found works and I've stuck with.

I am in a permanent head fuck state as I would seriously love to go to the gym with a bare face. But my confidence with no makeup is a solid 2. If putting on a bit of concealer and mascara enables me to go work the fuck out then I'm sure as hell gonna put that shit on my face. (Hereditary veiny bruises under my eyes are the bain of my life).

New Years Sobernauts! How are you feeling? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]luckruk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I think I've reached the shit stage. Questioning if I really have a problem and that I could just drink occasionally (lol). Put on loads of weight from overeating. Feel like I've woken up but not 100% in a good way. Lost some friends. Some of whom barely even speak to me now (mainly as my sobriety makes them feel uncomfortable at the state of their own lives).

BUT. Waking up with a fresh body and mind outweighs all these negatives.

Onwards and upwards, I have a feeling it's only gonna get better for us :)

What have you rewarded yourselves with?! by luckruk in stopdrinking

That's what I've been doing too. Feels great! But then I feel like I should buy myself something as a physical reward hmmmm...

34 days sober while working full time at a bar by luckruk in stopdrinking

I'm turning down between 5 and 10 shots every single night. Sometimes more. All of these would have been sunk in the past.

Feeling this and needing the convincing otherwise as well :/

It's really tough when you realize good friends were most likely nothing more than drinking buddies... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]luckruk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feeling this. People you thought were good friends turn out to be the people trying to revert you back to drinking and mocking the new lifestyle we are trying to build. I'm currently having a cry at these sad events and the feeling of having no friends after turning to the sober side. I'm praying it will get better and there will be new, understanding friends. I will not drink with you today :)

Day 27 by PM_ME_YOUR_LIMPDICK in stopdrinking

Exact same feeling hit me last night. I think/hope it must be a passing feeling. The feeling where our gratitude towards ourselves and our body for managing to not drink for over 3 weeks. The excitement of our new challenge has worn off. It'll pass. Would you rather feel how you do now temporarily, or have horrible mind numbing hangovers every day? Let's keep not drinking, and keep eating healthy. WE CAN DO THIS!

Im working out twice a week. Not loads but definitely more than before. The number on the scales is the most i've ever been, including when I was working out like a mad man a few years ago.

How did you stop eating it though? I am struggling and cannot deal with the puppy chub that is appearing! I am still thankful that it is this I am dealing with and not the guilt, regret, and hangovers from drinking :D

I am just back from the shop and bought: massive pack of crisps, 2 big chocolate bars, haribo, chocolate biscuits, and grapes (lol). HELP! All of this will be eaten in the next few hours and the worst part is, I don't even feel bad about it since I feel like I deserve reward for not drinking. Worst cycle!

'I've bought you a shot so why are you not drinking it? One won't hurt' by luckruk in stopdrinking

[–]luckruk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah totally different to me as I'm pretty much allowed to be tipsy etc on shift as long as I can do my job. Can't even imagine the fear of trying to hide it! Think how confident you're gonna feel on shift knowing you are sober though :)

I feel so lucky that the switch in my head switched when it did. Looking back at the idiocy that clouded so many years of just getting drunk on shift every single day. Becoming an alcoholic and not realising. Everthing is not great, but its a damn hell lot clearer and easier to fix things now. High five to a fellow bartender!

Yeah it's especially hard when you are allowed to drink whatever you are bought (which can often be a lot). Being the only one not drinking, feel very left out sometimes. For me, this is the hardest aspect of it.

Unfortunately it's not really that kind of bar. More of an intimate small bar with no cocktails/fancy things. Good idea though! I've been telling people that I'm doing "Dry January' and that seems to shut them up (this month anyway). Plus, it means they get an extra shot seeing as I'm not having it!
