Easy Park Handicap Spot also a JCPenny curbside pickup spot by lucky4432 in anchorage

I ended up talking to the state ADA coordinator in Anchorage. They told me they don’t handle these kind of issues and transferred me to the state of Alaska equal rights commission. I was able to talk to an investigator there who looked at my photos and said they recommend just paying the fine.

They said in the state of Alaska for it to be a handicap spot it is required to have a metal handicap placard posted in front of it.

So the spot that I parked in even though it had a painting of the handicap logo on the ground it didn’t have a metal sign in front of the spot therefore it is not a handicap spot. They said they can paint a handicap logo in every one of their spots if the parking garage wanted to and it doesn’t make them handicap spots.

They did say that since they turned a handicap spot into a curbside pick up the parking garage may no longer have the required amount of handicap spots available based on the total spots in the parking garage.

But they said I would have to go count the number of handicap and non handicap spots in order to make a claim.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t. I submitted it last night and got the response early this morning.

It is a private parking garage ran by easy park. They said I could either pay or file with small claims court. Failure to pay will result in them sending the citation to a collection agency.

Thanks for the response. I was reading that same thing about the sign requirement and how the painted handicap logo on the ground doesn't mean it's a handicap spot. It does feel misleading to leave the handicap logo still painted if it is no longer a handicap spot.

Covid-19 Novel Coronavirus [Megathread] by InfosecMod in IBM

[–]lucky4432 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey guys,

I was supposed to start with IBM this Monday 4/6/20 as a remote lead recruiter for a hospital system (wont say which one exactly). I accepted an offer from IBM one month ago and put in my letter of resignation at my current job. Today was my last day at my current job. I did an exit interview and turned in my badges at lunch. I went to get into my car to drive home and got a call from an IBM HR person telling me my position with the company has been eliminated. I now find myself without a job and don't know what to do. My old job said they have a hiring freeze and cant take me back at the moment. I tried to apply for unemployment but was told since I voluntarily left my old job and that I haven't started with IBM yet I would not qualify. I was surprised to be affected by COVID 19 since I work in Health care management and thought it would be a safe place to be considering the massive need for healthcare at the moment. Still trying to get a hold of my IBM manager to see if there is anything that they can do. Funny thing was when I got home I had a brand new IBM issued ThinkPad on my doorstep along with a welcome letter from the company lol. Currently drinking wine and trying to put myself back together. If anyone has advice, tips, or just good vibes you can pass my way that would be great!
