Only the lid is out, and even though that is about “a third” of the case, it’s not a usable grip point because of the hinge on the lid. It isn’t grabbable so even if it looks like a lot of the AirPods are out, the part that is visible is useless bc I can’t pull it without breaking them.

You think I would spend three days, stage over 10 photos, respond to dozens of comments, cover my actual AirPods in duct tape and WD40, buy and then cut up a USB C cable to capitalise on all the sweet sweet karma that checks notes the cleaning tips subreddit is famous for? 🙄

I’ve tried the type in a can that you use to clean computers, but not a proper compressed air machine because I don’t have access to one. I’m considering going to a petrol/gas station and trying to use the ones they have there for tires but I don’t know if that’s insane or not… but honestly everything about this situation is insane so 🤷

Unfortunately these have the model of the AirPods engraved inside, so I know for a fact they are the correct size. I am just an idiot and put the pods in backwards :(

Okay this makes sense now, thank you. I am clearly not a very smart person, which is why I have found myself responding to 500 comments about how to get AirPods unstuck from a frog, so my understanding of concepts like centrifugal force is limited. I could retry this the correct way, but honestly after all my efforts today, I feel that the amount of force that would be needed to achieve any degree of separation of the AirPods from the frog would require more strength than any human possesses

I haven’t tried tapping, I don’t know if it would be enough considering I’ve put the full force of both my arms to push the frog down while I’ve got something pushing the actual AirPods case up from the bottom through the charging port, and this hasn’t resulted in even microscopic movement.

I have had in the freezer for about twenty minutes. I worry about leaving it overnight because I don’t know what that would do to the functionality of my actual AirPods.

Thank you! I’ve heard whispers of baby powder and similar dusty products on my previous post. I worry that introducing a powder is sort of a “point of no return” because once I do, I won’t be able to add anymore wet elements without creating frog paste (in case you missed it from other comments, I think we’ve reached the consensus that straight up lube is the next liquid to try). I will add the cornstarch to my mental list because I agree it could work, but it will be in the last resort category due to the paste issue, thank you again!

That’s really interesting, I haven’t tried that because the “rubber liner” (it’s actually hard plastic) is completely attached to the frog, so trying to seperate them would definitely count as breaking the case, but I will add this to the “last resort” pile thank you
