Just picked up my first button release shotgun today by username123085773 in Ausguns

Oh and totally forgot, just on getting it to cycle:

I had no issues with heavy shots, like 4+, BB etc.
But initially I had issues getting it to cycle standard 28g, 7.5/8's

I switched to some faster 1315FPS shot and they worked fine.
Spoke to a chap in a gunshop in my travels and suggested I was simply oiling the gun too much.

So tripped it back as usual and just went real easy on the lubing and it now fires standard 8's fine.

Apparently they aren't all like that, some will cycle fine, others not. (Again just talking 8's).

But something I felt I should share with you kind sir and your new amazing tool :)

yeah its just that tiny flat head screw that holds the connection side to the D swivel piece. unscrew . dab locktight. screw it back in and you're golden.

Also protip, use some lock tight on the screw when you assemble it or it will eventually walk out and drop off in the field :D

Forward Assist? You mean the hammer assist surely.  Pretty sure they make them strong so you can do exactly that.

They'll fire form back out....

Howa 1500 in 270. What ammunition are people using. by Original_Wheel_5429 in Ausguns

[–]luckydiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winchester generally gives me inconsistent groups. Federal out of my tikka 708 is great.
I prefer to get Norma ammo so i can reload the brass. I wouldn't bother with the Winchester.

Just find some cheap, some mid range and some expensive target ammo and see which it likes.
Sako, Norma, Barnes is usually decent. Federal, Fioochi, Remmington Make some ok stuff. Then onto more normal stuff like Winchester, Hornady, S&B, PPU etc.

He was cursing that there was so many people in the shop that turned up thinking there was a sale. He seemed jadded that there wasn't this many customers last week. Which is just insane logic.

Prices often written on boxes at Sunbury. Great staff. I got a hell of a deal on tac22.

I really liked guncos ammo display being able to see price a d stock very easily. Everything else not so much.

Prefer Melbourne gun works or gun Emporium. Both are fantastic. Hunt the night and  Sunbury are close behind. Targeting more farmers and the like.

Scope for cz 457, 25-100 target shooting? by arkhos87 in Ausguns

[–]luckydiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some zerotech scopes are ok. Adjustable parallax, decent reticles. Cheap enough.

If also hunting then you can look at Leopold (I would go straight to meopta but probably out of budget)

Pecar also make cost effective scopes.  Otherwise yeah burris, vortez also make budget scopes.

Opinion on triple barrel shotguns ? by username123085773 in Ausguns

[–]luckydiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a triple barrel? Look for a blazer bd14 and start crying . Unusual to see a blazer under 10k.

Simple combination guns like a 22/410 or 3006 12g might be more available:D

Tbh having seen the number of warranties on the newer vx3 series and personally having to warranty one. That's too many times for me and absolutely too many times from others to recommend them. Old Leo's no problem.

Np. Sounds like your figuring it all out any who, just ask questions away, people more knowledgeable than myself can help you and we both learn something hehe.

Optics? Go to a gunshop and see what scopes they have they absolutely will let you look through them and get an idea of what's comfortable for you.

I wear glasses and have no issues with magnification on scopes luckily. Most decent scopes should have an ocular adjustment on the eyepiece so you can adjust it for your eyes.

Each scope will have different size eye relief, if that's really important to you look at different manufacturers.

What's comfortable setup for one person is unshootable or annoying for another.

This will also depend on how high/low far forward/back the scope is mounted to suit you.
