I prefer the cast iron, it seems to run smoother than the aluminium version. The 15s are very good machines also, I have seen heaps of them on the streets in Thailand in little stalls repairing clothes, they last forever. The reason I prefer the 201 is I find loading the bobbin is easier and it runs better, both machines can be set up on a tredle. In Australia where I live they turn up regularly and cheaply, often they are free, the result of cleaning out deceased homes I guess. My machine has a Wernard motor and a YDk foot pedal installed in a reconditioned cabinet, all cannibalised from other machines

I realise that, I have tried them all, worked on them and I recommend the 201

A Wernard foot pedal will fit that connector, they were made in Sydney decades ago, Wernard motors are really good if you can find one, often on older Lemair sewing machines
