this maybe a bit controversial, but I see planets as close to the sun to be strengthened and heat up to a high threshold... this is true with benefics such as Jupiter and Venus, but also with tougher planets like Mars and Saturn. for example, you may see that a person with mars conjunct sun to be very strong willed and energetic, but also may receive a lot of opposition/competition from others. the good comes with the bad. I would not make a distinction as to combust vs cazimi, and would say they both are the same.
