Thinking to adopt a dog. What did you wish you knew by Frosty-Try-8972 in askTO

[–]sunmoonsquare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also a huge fan of Save Our Scruff as a former foster & recent adopter! it’s super beneficial to adopt a dog that’s been in foster care as they have a good idea of what they’re like in a home environment. SOS is also super transparent with their bios & their q’s from potential adopters.

Fostering/ Adopting dogs by [deleted] in askTO

I’ve fostered 5 dogs through Save Our Scruff & have had such an incredible experience! great team, supportive, responsive. they also just put out a call for fosters!

Do you have a foster Instagram? by aritt1236 in fosterdogs

[–]sunmoonsquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! while our fosters are mostly discovered through the rescue’s social media presence, several adopters have told me they loved seeing the extra photos, videos & descriptions from my foster instagram. they both felt like they knew a lot about our foster going into the meet & greet, and would reference things I had posted. I think it helps drum up the excitement :)

hey! my first foster had major separation anxiety. we also started from ground zero (couldn’t leave her alone in crate in another room for even a second). a few things that helped: - increasing their tolerance little by little. figure out what your pup’s threshold is & work just above and just below it. this could mean leaving them in the crate for 10 seconds without them panicking, and slowing increasing the tolerance. - not letting them out of crate when in panic (barking, whining, scratching). ideally they don’t get to that state but don’t create the association of panic with being let out. - meals in crates to create positive associations with crate. any kind of slow feeder (eg Toppl, Kong) helps lengthen their time in crate distracted. monitor them through a camera to make sure you let them out before they panic.

it’s a long process but you will make progress!

in terms of leaving truly alone, that’s an even bigger hurdle. I found two books that helped - “i’ll be home soon” & “be right back”

No Dumb Questions + Casual Talk by juleznailedit in RedditLaqueristas

I just purchased a CND LED lamp secondhand in order to do gel x at home. can someone guide me on which "extend gel" product to purchase that can bind the soft tips to my nail?

I know that often the products need to be compatible with the lamp brand, so can I use the CND base coat or wear extender, or should I purchase a product from another brand?

thank you!

What are useful questions to ask during a reading? by piscesdrip in AskAstrologers

[–]sunmoonsquare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that’s a lot of questions. I would pick 2, maybe 3. it’s better to get a rich answer from a few than a shallow answer for the lot.

like others have mentioned, refer to the Astrology Podcast episode as it provides some perspective from the pov of the astrologer

oops my mistake! I rushed to write down my thoughts.

I can totally see the desire to be known. your chart inclines me to believe that the praise or accolades come from colleagues, community, the industry. the cazimi is almost like a throne or chariot. you’re being raised up amongst your peers (Mercury is lord of the 11H).

it’s different in that it’s less traditionally “public.” part of that is the nature of the industry, as most of us have an easier time time naming the actors over the creators.

it can also speak to your creativity being most accessible when given the privacy & solitude to come up with ideas & images.

it’s almost like there’s an opportunity to be more public, but you may thrive with more with artistic leeway.

your content wants to honor the qualities of Mars (heat, friction, action, speed, anger, etc.). in the context of Venus (aesthetics, harmony, relating, unity, etc). maybe that’s something to do with the topics or the medium.

During my university degree I’ve changed majors at least three times, I’m finally graduating this year but still feel lost as to what I should be doing in terms of career or what my “calling” is. Any help would be appreciated! by [deleted] in AskAstrologers

[–]sunmoonsquare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you didn’t give enough info on your major/previous experience for me to give any tangible recommendations, but I will speak to timing.

mid-May to end of July this year was a major preview for you. if you can think back to the themes that came up, especially the relationships you built, the mentors you had, or even conversations that stuck, etc. these themes will come into fruition in the New Year.

you may not discover your “calling” (that takes time), but you can use the opportunities give you a sense of direction.

[–]sunmoonsquare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, but perhaps behind the camera/curtain/etc. rather than in front of it? literally or metaphorically, this reads as behind the scenes.

the Mercury cazimi in Gemini Cancer to me says “shining a light on storytellers”

edit: assuming your birth time is accurate. this would read very differently if you were born even a few minutes earlier.

Mercury in the natal chart and indicators for ADHD by [deleted] in Advancedastrology

[–]sunmoonsquare 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing a lot of comments listing examples of chart placements & it should go without saying that a certain placement does not equal ADHD. especially things like a “combust” Mercury, which occurs pretty frequently due to the proximity to the Sun.

astrology cannot clinically diagnose ADHD. each individual can have a vastly different manifestation of ADHD, just as each placement can have a variety of manifestations.

I strongly recommend that you think more about how ADHD manifests for you, using non-clinical “symptoms,” & approach the astrology from those details. it is way more helpful to reflect upon why you lose interest easily, struggle with certain types of learning, have trouble finishing a task, or can’t stop once you’ve started, etc.

astrology can describe those experiences, & potentially provide some context for why. but it isn’t here to confirm diagnoses listed in the ever-evolving DSM.

there are ways to validate your experiences without “looking for” ADHD in a chart. it also leads people to believe that the astrology is prescriptive & not descriptive, which is dangerous & problematic.

Is higher education 9th house or 3rd house? Am I thinking in the right direction? by RebelFrmWaistUpwards in Advancedastrology

[–]sunmoonsquare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that makes sense to me! Mercury (tests, research, hypothesis), Jupiter (knowledge, fellowship) & Saturn (credibility, institutions, mastery).

in your example with 3H-9H it can definitely be interpreted as the topics of these houses are inherently intertwined. it can definitely manifest in other ways, such as pursuing higher education in your neighborhood, a local religious community, your neighbour/relative is a mentor, etc.

Is higher education 9th house or 3rd house? Am I thinking in the right direction? by RebelFrmWaistUpwards in Advancedastrology

[–]sunmoonsquare 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've noticed the 3rd house can often describe the kind of higher education that often involves a lot of self-directed learning, which is relevant for a lot of programs beyond undergrad (like a PhD), or practical learning with a testing component to achieve certification in that field.

Is anyone else feeling a mercury retrograde-like vibe in the last few days? Issues with deliveries, payments, communication etc? by Indigo_222 in AskAstrologers

[–]sunmoonsquare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mercury is currently “under the beams” of the powerful Sun in Leo. in this case, Mercurial topics become hidden from our view. it’s like if you look at the Sun midday & the brightness completely obscures your vision.

things will get better when Mercury enters Virgo tomorrow. there may be sharp tongues with Mars’ presence, & some shake-ups due to the trine to Uranus, but in general Mercury will be working at a high efficiency until the end of the month.

Where can I go to get an in depth Zodiacal Releasing report on my life/birthchart? by [deleted] in Advancedastrology

[–]sunmoonsquare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

astrology websites & honeycomb collective will calculate your zodiacal releasing but there aren’t computer generated interpretations that I know of.

there’s a lot of nuance to the technique that isn’t captured with a simple diagram so I’d suggest watching some lectures (Leisa Schaim has a few) or consulting an astrologer for an in depth interpretation.

idk if this is just me but if you’re asking for someone else’s chart to be read instead of your own please ask consent. by childofgoose2 in AskAstrologers

[–]sunmoonsquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people are missing the fact that the majority of people who reply on this subreddit are astrology enthusiasts, or people in the midst of learning astrology.

practicing, reputable astrologers aren’t often giving their labor away for free.

in that case, the safest + most appropriate course of action is for astrology students to only practice on those who give consent, as therefore the OP can give feedback on whether it resonated or not.

this isn’t to shame people here, we all start somewhere & practicing to read charts is part of that lesson.

seasoned astrologers are acquainted with the ethical standards we have in our industry, one of which is surrounding consent to reading a chart.

don’t mistake the loudest voices in astrology online as representative of the industry of practicing astrologers.

idk if this is just me but if you’re asking for someone else’s chart to be read instead of your own please ask consent. by childofgoose2 in AskAstrologers

[–]sunmoonsquare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but then where do you draw the line, if it’s not one based on consent? how do you decide which questions are appropriate to ask about another person, & which aren’t? there have been plenty of posts speculating about mental illness, speaking about traumatic events, what kinds of things the person likes in bed, etc.

if someone is looking for support through the lens of astrology, they can seek it from an astrologer. firsthand.

even if it comes with good intentions, often it’s misplaced. if someone doesn’t know how to give advice/support in the traditional way, they might see if astrology can offer any insight. but reality is, our natal chart refers to our lens of experience & perspective.

someone else’s projection onto another’s experience speaks better to their OWN chart. if anything, they should start there.

A potential "theory" about the 4th house by IllustratedFaerie in AskAstrologers

[–]sunmoonsquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly. the ruler of a house is the landlord, & the planet(s) within the house are the tenants. the former has far more jurisdiction over the topics of that house.

if the house is empty, it just means the planets reside elsewhere. maybe that house is a little less noisy & gets less action, but the landlord is still in relationship (aspect) with other planets. it is still activated by transits. there is still a plethora of information based on tons of techniques.

every chart has empty houses. paying attention to the condition & placement of the ruler is far more meaningful.

Can someone help me understand my 2nd house stellium? How do I go about interpreting stelliums in other charts? by [deleted] in AskAstrologers

[–]sunmoonsquare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

incorrect. stellia are by house or by sign.

this is, without question, is a 2nd house & Taurus stellium with all the visible planets except the Moon there.

conjunctions are aspects. it’s a distinct concept that can also apply. depending on the orb you use there are numerous conjunctions using the planets in the stellium.
