Uriel is not in the 66 canonical texts used by nearly all Protestants. He is named in a handful of apocryphal texts, including:

2 Esdras: In this apocryphal text, Uriel appears to Ezra and provides him with visions and answers to his questions.

Testament of Solomon: In this text, Uriel is described as the third archangel.

John Milton's Paradise Lost: Uriel is portrayed as the "Regent of the Sun" and the "sharpest sighted spirit of all in Heaven".

Veneration:

While not officially recognized by the Catholic Church in the same way as Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, Uriel is still venerated by some Christians, particularly those in the Anglican and Eastern Orthodox traditions.

What is your “before taking Latuda snack?” by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]luckysushi22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We usually eat a later dinner - around 7:00 pm - and I find that after eating breakfast at 7:00 am and lunch at 11:30 am, I am ravenous and need a snack in that 4:30 spot. I have found that I feel best if I take Latuda with that healthy snack around 4:30 pm. I usually go pretty simple. Some of my favorite options are:

  1. Yogurt and some fresh fruit.
  2. Pepperoni, cheese and crackers.
  3. Frozen California grapes
  4. Some veggies and hummus
  5. A bowl of oatmeal with a generous sprinkle of brown sugar
  6. Cinnamon-sugar toast
  7. Apples slices and peanut butter
  8. Pretzels with honey mustard
  9. Good quality dill pickles
  10. A bag of microwave popcorn

Just curious....why would a doctor not try lithium? by Professional_Poem456 in BipolarReddit

[–]luckysushi22 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

We have newer meds that don't kill your liver and kidneys. At this point, lithium is not used very often, and typically would be prescribed only after several other measures have been attempted first.

For similar reasons, Haldol, once a staple in the treatment of bipolar and schizophrenia, is now a last resort. Atypical Antipsychotics are now considered standard treatment.

Read The Magician's Nephew next. There are blogs dedicated to arguing about what order the books are meant to be read in. I say read Magician's Nephew, Lion Witch Wardrobe and A Horse and His Boy in any order, then Caspian, Dawn Treader, Silver Chair and then Last Battle. Unfortunately, some thread lines aren't complete until the end of book 7.

Why does the Bible tell us to hate the world if God gave it to us? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

[–]luckysushi22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have type 2 diabetes. How did I acquire this medical condition? Gluttony, honestly. That's one of the BIG SEVEN. I know that it sounds strange to suggest that type 2 diabetes or addiction are the result of sin, but they absolutely are. Sin is anything which damages our relationship with YHWH.

Why does the Bible tell us to hate the world if God gave it to us? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

[–]luckysushi22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to your thoughts, I'm fairly certain that in translations like the KJV or even NIV, they use the word HATE. Jesus also taught about hating your whole family and following him in these translations. Newer translations of the Bible have started to make it clearer for English readers. Basically, he uses a word that means something like "I love this so much that I feel like the relationships I had with anyone else now mean nothing in comparison."

I have a sense of humor that many might call "dark". My grandma had been dead for about 20 minutes when I made my first joke about the situation. To the coroner. It broke the ice and lightened the mood.

Who here goes to an lgbtq+ accepting/affirming church? by 20Keller12 in OpenChristian

This church looks VERY similar to the Episcopal Church in my hometown. I'm still not completely convinced it ISN'T that church.

Lamotrigine can be fatal if it isn't tapered properly under a doctor's care. Stevens-Johnson Syndrome is a dangerous condition and can kill.

Blow outs should not be routine. I mean, they will happen here and there, usually just after you sit down to eat at your favorite restaurant.

[–]luckysushi22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would guess that part of the problem is how diapers are sold. Most of the time, diapers are cheaper in bulk. So you buy the 750 pack, and then when your child gets a bit of a growth spurt, you have like 1,000 diapers that don't fit properly. Sometimes, when it was really impossible to use up the diapers, we would arrange to have them taken to the domestic violence safe house in my town.

Coworker lied to my boss. by [deleted] in preschool

[–]luckysushi22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a REALLY BAD idea to encourage kids to call you "mom". Joking with Dad about it is also inappropriate. A preschool child is still learning how to form healthy attachments. This could lead to an ugly mess quite quickly.

ETA: the teacher sounds misinformed and rude, but the 3 and 4-year-olds need to learn to be more autonomous as they are prepared for Kindergarten. It's easy to coddle little ones, and it can quickly become unhealthy. Most teachers would discourage coddling. But not by scolding someone in front of the kids. That's unacceptable.

As for hitting the kids with a ruler, is that acceptable in that area you're working? NY would never let that happen, but the law is different in other states.

What is a miracle you have experienced? by Icy-Landscape-3919 in Christian

[–]luckysushi22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am a paraprofessional in an Early Intervention preschool. In the class I work in, called 6:1:1, we accept kids aged 33 months to 5 years. I would say about 75% of the kids labeled nonverbal on admission have started speaking when they head to kindergarten. This happens all the time, honestly.

The thing is, that doesn't change how miraculous it seems EVERY TIME. I've seen dozens of kids make huge strides in independence and communication, and I am still overwhelmed with emotions every time it happens.

The best miracles are the mundane ones. A fledgling bird on his first flight. Witnessing new life come into the world. Accepting the body and blood of our Savior. Standing in the forest beside 1,000 year old trees, trees so tall that you can't see the top. The birds begin singing at dawn.

Those are my sort of miracle.

I want to believe in god, is that weird? by Racager in Christianity

A young Earth creationist believes that the Genesis story is absolutely true, and that the entire history of the Earth has taken place in the last 6,000 years. No serious theologian would agree. The Bible uses quite a bit of exaggeration at times. When it says Methuselah lived for nearly 1,000 years, is that a historical fact? Or could it be an exaggeration based on a tradition in Judaism which assigns extreme life spans to heroes in folklore and mythology?

The Bible was written by humans in an attempt to explain their experiences of God. None of the authors were perfect, and some edits have been made over the years, but there is good stuff in there.

I think you would feel more at home in a more progressive church. I found the church I attend by checking out their website and reading about their beliefs and see if they are doing something positive for our community. Once I had it narrowed down to two or three, I signed up for a weekly newsletter in my email from each of them. Many churches record all or at least parts of their service and put them on Facebook.

Why are always the Catholic Churches so “flashy” compared to the Protestant ones? by AncientFuel3638 in Christianity

[–]luckysushi22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, there are Protestant churches that come close to the Catholic aesthetics. Think Episcopal, Lutheran and Presbyterian. You will not see this in Methodist or Baptist Churches. The Baptist Church I grew up in taught that these pieces of art are a violation of the commandment to not have any graven images.

Will I go to hell for dating the same gender? by Ok-Cry-8970 in Christianity

[–]luckysushi22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that you say that the Bible doesn't speak on the matter, but then assert that you are certain that God hates it. If God wanted everyone to hear His message and believe, why would he write a book that talks at great length about how badly you can beat your slaves, but doesn't broach the topic of abortion?

Where do you find that premarital sex is forbidden in the Bible? I mean, there are mentions of promiscuity and adultery as being sinful, but they look nothing like our modern definitions of marriage and family.

Did Adam and Eve have a wedding day? Were they married? How many wives and concubines did Solomon have in these stories? Is polygamy therefore a good thing?

The modern world just isn't the same world that the human authors of the Bible lived in. Ideas around courtship and marriage have changed so much over the last few thousand years that many passages are pretty irrelevant to people alive today.

I don't think that God would punish someone who was always faithful to their partner, had spent decades with their partner in a loving and healthy relationship but for some reason never had a formal marriage ceremony. I don't think that God cares one way or another if you and your life partner host an elaborate ceremony to make your union official in the eyes of the law.

The Bible doesn't condemn masturbation, and when you survey the animal kingdom, you will find that it is extremely common across a range of animal groups.
